CBS has partnered with the NFL for Thursday Night Football and will broadcast the first eight Thursday games of the 2014 season."NFL Network built Thursday into a night for NFL fans," commissioner Roger Goodell said. "Our goal is to bring these games to more fans on broadcast television with unprecedented promotion and visibility for 'Thursday Night Football' on CBS." NFL Network will simulcast those games and then exclusively broadcast the final four Thursday games in addition to two late-season Saturday night games. Jim Nantz and Phil Simms will be doing all 16 games, unfortunately leaving us without our weekly dose of Mike Mayock.
Did NFLN need a bailout on production costs?
CBS broadcast sucks and so does their commentary.
Going to miss hearing Mike Mayock in the booth. The guy is great and knows his stuff. At least we still get him during the draft.
Twice the Phil Simms every week! Why are we being punished like this?
This deal should increase the salary cap number for 2014 by 3 to 4 million
Phil Simms suuuucks. He is so bad it is comical.

Then what do you call Phil Simms and this in the same pic?
Until they fix the scheduling...it matters not what station it is on. They need to make it to where anyone playing on Thursday is coming off their bye week. The reason Thursday games suck is because most of these guys are not prepared mentally of physically after only 4 days from their previous game. One would think that the brilliant people at the NFL who are all about "image" would do what they can to fix the product on Thursdays, not the method of delivery.

Two of the most overrated football players in history.
How is Phil Simms overrated as a player?

Mayock is good in studio but I find him unlistenable as a game analyst.

Really? I do agree he's better as a studio analyst than game analyst, but that's because he's basically the best when it comes to draft analysis (IMHO). When he calls a game he's great at explaining technique and strategy, and I love his candor... he does have a tendency to miss plays and points. Overall I'm going to miss him, particularly with Nessler; I think they have strong chemistry.
