I think these past few weeks we went from a high flying 5-1 to 6-4. I think its time for us to change the narrative of who the bucs are and that starts with the guys like todd bowles and baker Mayfield two guys who became married to each other.
The Bucs reach new hype I havent seen in my entire lifetime of being #2 in the power rankings, starting qb getting mvp consideration. We sorta of lost focus of what the opportunity we had at hand and stumbled into 6-4 albeit against good teams. We say we’re good but its time to focus up and grasp what opportunity we had at hand
Bowles the guy who fans love to hate, say is gutless, ran out of ny you have the opportunity to change the narrative these next few weeks into the playoffs. You took a team to 5-1 and now we’re 6-4. It’s time to become the best HC Tampa bay has ever had. 4 back to back to back division titles....never done in Tampa before. Whats missing? A Superbowl.
Offensive coordinators may have came and gone but one guy that has stayed is Captain Baker Mayfield we need you to take more control of the offense and become the sheriff Peyton manning was. You remember what they said about you washed up, never was. TTech? they didnt even want you after you took them to 5-0. A walk on heisman I think theres an opportunity here to reclaim a bit of legacy and rewrite all your stories upon this season.
Time to start calling our own shot. Guys like Diaby who beat Will campbell like a drum you need to start telling the opposite end you play contain and I go after him when you get that one on one cause you know you're gonna beat your guy. This stretch is where those guys in the waiting wings need to step up this is just as much as their team.
When we look back on the season this rams game might be the game we have to have to remember we can compete for a superbowl, or else this team will have the residual doubt if they can get it done against playoff teams until we reach the playoffs
Out of all this we have something special this year and the guys know it, but we can’t squander it and relax or how Arians would say "rest on our laurels"
What lies ahead is the still possibility of a superbowl that we had all the capabilities to reach when people were saying we were a top 2 team. But you know what a super bowl win does for you as the Head coach and Quarterback. You are now DEFINED and REMEMBERED , FOREVER as a WINNER. 7 weeks Change the narrative.

being #2 in the power rankings, starting qb getting mvp consideration
this season
I just mentioned this in another post. Who knows if either of those were fully deserve, BUT that was the perception of the Bucs around the league and here we have fans saying that 11-6 or 10-7 would be disappointing . . . even when that was their prediction BEFORE the season.
ROLLER COASTER!
well i would say this will be a turning point game
a win.....and we are 7-4 and have owned the teams in the NFC West, teams we are likely to face in the first round of the playoffs. Would be a signature win and prove that the NFC is up for grabs
a loss....and well, as expected, we are 6-5, likely go on a run against weaker competition, win the division as the #4 seed. We will have false hope with maybe Evans back and Godwin getting in the groove, but ultimately we are pretenders.
Even at 11-6 with a 5-1 streak to end the year, nobody will take us seriously if we have losses to Philly, Detroit, and Los Angeles. We will be significant long shots to do anything in the playoffs.

right, but if you try to put a positive spin on it, we might also be surprising people if, for example, we have a running game that we did not, Irving that we did not, Godwin that we did not etc.

that's going to be our false hope though. If Godwin looks anything like he did in the limited time he played this year, he is not better than Tez Johnson so that's concerning. I hope we get the Godwin of prior years but looked like he was running in mud....like Gronk when he first came to Tampa.
I think a win here will catapult this team and we may even have a shot for home field advantage still....going 13-4
but a loss and the Bucs are what people expect of them.
like we will likely be facing the Seahawks in the first round and that game to me was a fluke win by us, INT off the helmet of Logan Hall, which made us win. Much like the Commanders last year, i just dont see us having the same luck.
We may be underdogs in our home match-up. Only good news is that Darnold is a pumpkin and could falter in playoffs.
Assuming Detroit beats Greenbay in their first round match-up and Rams over 49ers, we would have to play the Eagles in the next round. Maybe possible? Actually would prefer them over the Lions or Rams...but ultimately we would get the winner of that match-up in championship game anyway.
Anything is possible but until i see us go on that win streak, hard for me to be confident right now

totally get where your coming from that's why I described it as positive spin, an optimistic fan's take.
Maybe even OVERLY optimistic

relatively to all you old folks been on these boards since i was 10? im 31 lol ***i was on the old buccaneers.com board i think pr was around 14
My oldest clear vivid memory is bert emmanuel rams with my dad and brothers
I think we are personally just taking on everyones best shot, the ric flair quote "wanna be the man gotta beat the man". Well we were the man.... we just weren't focused enough to take everybodys best shot when we had the hype on us. Beating us makes them look good.
Everything I'm seeing is fixable from a football stand point, with a few guys calling their shots differently, and the focus of the players and coaches. Its just not 100% focus, we definitely have our lapse which when these teams come in with the mindset to beat us down the full 60 minutes it will wear us out if we're not 100% mentally there.
"hey last year we were under the radar, thats a good place to be, fuck that, the best place is when expectations are high, get used to it, its always gonna be that way.......And now lets prove everybody right. We know we're better than you. we dont give a fuck, if you know it or not we dont give a shit if you give us your best game we're gonna give you our best game and we're gonna beat the fuck out of you." - Rex Ryan to the Jets

Buddy, you literally stated:

Were you not around 4 years ago?
yeah in the Brady years, we were actually Super Bowl contenders. (2020, 2021)
in the Baker years, it's exciting but nobody takes us seriously for SB
yeah we are a top 12 team during any given week but nobody considers us serious Super Bowl contenders. Pete Prisco and Nick Wright did especially before season and at 5-1 but we continue to lay duds against competitive teams and how could you feel good about this team?
a win against the Rams could change that narrative.

By attributing some of those dud to the current roster. I dont know that that is correct, but you can read that take from people outside the Red Board
The narrative that Baker is a superhero is a myth laid bare and isn't coming back. Baker isn't a miracle worker. We need to return the pedestal and put his feet back on the ground with the rest of us humans. He can't overcome a bad defensive performance by his team. Baker is a good QB, top 10, but he isn't Mahomes or Allen or Jackson because he doesn't dominate a game. He's a leader. He's got Moxie. You don't want anybody else (other than the aforemenetioned) in the 4th quarter. He can guide a good team to the promised land. But he can't overcome the deficiencies and will a flawed team to victory. He wants to. He can't.

We had more hype this year imo reason being Brady had MVP fatigue
Based on schedule and injuries I think this team is over achieving. 12 key players have missed an average of 6 games and counting. 3 quality wins, no bad losses.
