Any ideas as to who the top coaching candidates will be? It's clear how much coaching means to a team. Just look at Coen with the Jags and Johnson with the Bears. Sucks we lost Coen and we need an offensive guru to come in and unleash the talent we have. Not sure if there is anyone TBH. Thoughts?
Any college candidates anyone would consider?
Freeman from ND id love.
could bring RB Love with him. Probably top 15 pick though we have more pressing needs.
It does appear to be a bad year to be looking for a head coach. We probably need an offensive minded coach in Tampa to be the leader, although it does appear that the Texans will win it all this year with a DC as the head guy. Who knows.
TOP HIRE
1. Klint Kubiak, Seattle Seahawks - top 5 offense in scoring with lesser talent than the Bucs. Look at what Coen and Johnson have done with their respective squads. Let's get him on board to see if we can fix Baker Mayfield and return to being a top 5 offense ourselves
If we can't land him, then other options become
2. Joe Brady, Buffalo Bills - a top offense but also has Josh Allen so discount his success a bit.
3. John Harbaugh, Baltimore Ravens - Would think he has the potential to become available. Not exactly an offensive minded guy that we need, but maybe he brings Monken with him. The guy's a good head coach but there is only 1 or 2 retread hires that would be good and he is one of them.
4. Mike Tomlin, Pittsburgh Steelers- Would think he has the potential to become available. Not exactly an offensive minded guy that we need, but maybe he brings Smith with him. The guy's a good head coach but there is only 1 or 2 retread hires that would be good and he is one of them.
5. Mike LaFleur, St. Louis Rams - a disciple of Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay. Currently offensive coordinator of the Rams
6. Jim Bob Cooter, Indianapolis Colts - dudes name has been getting thrown out there for years. Currently OC for the Colts.
7. Bill Belichick, UNC - Can't say i'd like this personality but since we live in a simulation, Brady to the Bucs, only makes sense that Belichick comes here too
8. Mike McCarthy, free agent - i mean, we could do worse. The guy tends to have his teams in the playoffs and not exactly cake walk divisions. I'd prefer not but a name to consider.
Klint Kubiak or the Rams DC.

Looking at the Glazers history this seems an obvious choice.
i wouldn't rule out Kliff Kingsbury either
again probably prefer Kubiak or Brady or loser of the Sunday night game (Pitt/BAL) but throw him on there as a potential option too
Luckily the bar is not high for being better than Bowles.

Not steal WT's thunder, but the bar was not high at all to being better than Lovie. That got us Koetter.
The b ar was very low to replace Morris. That got us Schiano.
They shouldn't make a move for the sake of an incremental improvement.

well, they need to make a move because the locker room is lost. I have never seen anything like this. The Gruden collapse at 9-3 was close but even that was not as bad as this one.
and to be clear, all the guys i listed, including Kliff, would be significant improvements over Bowles. Not so much because Bowles is incompetent but because we either need an offensive mind to fix Baker or a coach that knows how to run a team that comes with respect - Tomlin, Harbaugh, etc.

yeh. the Gruden collapse or the Morris collapse maybe, but I agree that the team has lost the plot.
I think they will move on from Bowles now, but its not outside the realm of possibilities that they do not. Sudden life and a playoff win, an easy example to conjure. Much less so to actually deliver lol. Bad timing vis a vis other coaches, another one. The Glazers are all to aware of the Gruden-Morris-Schiano-Lovie-Koetter . . trap.
Unlikely as it may be (I think the team folds against the Panthers) there is at least a way, especially if there are player scapegoats who can be dismissed (Dean etc) and or key player driven votes of support. Thats one reason the benching of Smith is notable to me. Let's see what happens Saturday.
Low bar = low expectations. That usually happens when your team has struggled to win more games than you lose. This situation is MUCH different. This offense may be losing Mike Evans to retirement but it’s a good OC/offensive HC away from championship performance.Luckily the bar is not high for being better than Bowles.

The defense has some aging but very good pieces - but is not championship level.
Any new HC search has to be someone that can make us better where we’re already good - and get us good where we’re lacking. Thats a tougher search. I’m not sure this ownership group knows the difference.
Again, I’m actually not expecting a HC change. I expect to be disappointed in a completely different way than “what’s your HC wish list” …

Agreed. Once the Dom/Morris experiment flopped, the Glazers were a little lost.
I wonder if Monken might be waiting in the wings and, if so, who would he bring as a DC? Monken would be more of the type of move you are suggesting.
Some interesting names who might be in the mix:
- Klayton Adams
- Wes Phillips
- Chris Shula
- Nate Scheelhaase
