Looking at the game film that number is really 400. This was the biggest line of scrimmage mismatch I've ever seen in a Bucs game. And the fact that needed luck to win this game is a big indictment on Coen
lol
Irving and White had 7.6 yards per carry when you exclude goal line runs.

You don't really have to justify what you're correctly saying to the nitwit that started a thread asking for Coen criticism.

JC, I only laughed because its like you cannot resist hyperbole, but go ahead and explain why that average, excluding goal line runs, supports your comment above? Maybe you're right

Coen called passes in 17 situations he should have run the ball. Including both of Mayfield's INTs

So, in your view those 17 passes should be 17 more runs at 7.9 per?
Just fyi, Baker went 8-11 and 114 yds to finish the game. I get that people wanted to run the ball a lot more, but you can't just abandon the passing game in the NFL.

agreed
for all the problems early on with the offense Baker definitely turned it on when it mattered
Coen didn't pitch a great game but he's still our ace.
Yep.
I dont think anyone disagrees with that BUT just looks at the threads . . . the heat is all directed at the defense in a game where it was OBVIOUS the offense was not pulling its weight
I get that the pitchforks are all pointed at Bowles, but that doesn't mean everything that happens is defensive play calling . . especially not in an overtime win where the other team has 23 points

The offense pulled it's weight but it hurt the defense with turnovers. The defense doesn't get off the field.
Even with the poor showing from Coen he still pitched a better game than Bowles.
Now if Bowles successfully does the "bend don't break" style then sure... And the red zone defense was much better... But in the clutch:
Coen drove down and kicked a FG and gave the defense a 4 point lead with less than 3 minutes.
Defense gave up a TD and gave the offense 30 seconds.
Offense kicked a FG in 30 seconds to force ot.
Offense drove and missed a fg.
Defense immediately gave up yards for a FG but a great play by Nelson salvaged the day.
So I tend weigh clutch plays more and in terms of clutch, STRICTLY REFERRING TO PLAY CALLING, it wasn't close
The defense doesn't get off the field.
I agree with your post and was not comparing Bowles and Coen, especially not for the season
In terms of THE ACTUAL GAME and getting off the field though, the offense couldnt stay on the field (could not convert 3rd downs) through much of 3 quarters and the defense goes
STOP,
STOP,
FG,
STOP,
TD (offense goes backwards so Panthers start at our 36),
STOP,
FG (interception by Mayfield),
STOP,
STOP,
FG (interception by Mayfield),
STOP,
TD,
Thats about as good as you could hope to get from THIS defense, especially when they subbed in Bobby Boucher and the Staypuff marshmallow Man at S and ILB, respectively.
I get the last drive etc and I am not saying the D is good, just saying that that performace is as good as it gets (and better than the Chiefs) when the offense is doing nothing and GOING BACKWARDS and turning the ball over
I'd have to look up the stats but did we get any 3 and outs? I can't remember from memory.

Stops and FG's not good enough? wow lol
(We were losing the field position battle because of the offense. I mean, that happens when you go backwards 25yds and then punt for 22 yards lol)
Just looking quickly 4 of those stops are 3 and out
This has been noted before, but...It's important to remember the Panthers kicker missed TWO FGs he usually doesn't miss, and a Thielen TD which clearly was a TD was ruled a no-catch and resulted in a FG. That's 10 points the Panthers should have had, and the game doesn't even make it to OT. Then Nelson forces the Hubbard fumble in OT when the Panthers were in FG range. Yes, the Bucs drove down and won the game, but they had no business even having a chance to win the game.
