Just about the time I was watching it implode in the 2nd…something strange happened…a grind it out running game appeared out of no where!?

GOT to get Mike a 100 yard game, SOON.

What a 1st quarter & 2nd half! Game was downright schizophrenic…but ended very well. Liam’s offense was incredible yesterday, and that o-line was awesome!

Was it the o-line, or a banged up Saints D-Line? Our next game will be a good barometer I imagine.

we certainly do.  it's going to be a nail biter for him to get 1,000 this year

His highest yards in a game was against the Eagles with 94.

He needs to average 63 yards a game from here on out to get to 1,000

if our running game is anywhere close to that effective gong forward and Godwin keep playing like he has been, Evans should have no problems because the deep shots are coming

Limping during the game though so . . .

Incredible when you think about it.  Really just an amazing job overall by the offense and their coaches.

And for those that think W/L is a QB stat, Baker is 4-2, as we all know, while Burrow is 2-4.  Making Baker Mayfield the best QB in the NFL.

And just ftr, Baker has a PR of 99.0, with 6,219yds, 49 TDs/17 INTs, over the last 25 games of his career, including playoff games.

Cohen is the difference maker with this offense. I am going to miss him next year when he gets a head coaching job this offseason.

277 rushing yards without the #1 RB not good enough for you? I think the Saints were getting ready to stop the run in the middle at the beginning of the game, and the Bucs said "No thanks" and came out throwing short passes 75% of the time.  Then after they wore out Saints in the 2nd half they pounded the rock 75% of the time and the Saints obviously couldn't stop it.  So give credit to Coen for being one step ahead of the Saints the whole game.

Well, there is that. At this point of the season, almost every team is banged up, some more than others. Hopefully we have moved past the significant injury bug.

Getting through the next few games will tell us more…hopefully we get Graham Barton back soon. I like Hainsey, but facing the big boy portion of our schedule, would be nice to have as close to a full starting roster as possible.

Cohen is the difference maker with this offense.

So huge.

As I mentioned in another thread, the biggest difference between him and Canales is that Coen has actually adjusted.

He'll continue to go to the well with whats working and (over the last 3 weeks) has shown the willingness to adjust when things aren't.

A lot of the passing concepts are the same as last year, but his grasp of the ebbs and flows of situational play calling has been light years better than Dave's.

He's making the offense super easy for Baker and making it easy for him to get the ball in the hands of his play makers.

He's 8th in passing yards, yet has the 2nd lowest ADOT and IAY in the entire league (the check down merchant in KC has the lowest in both).

Play point guard. Get the ball in the hands of your playmakers. Play smart and efficient at the QB position. And, it doesn't hurt to have some wheels to get out of trouble. And, presto, you have an MVP candidate.

Even if this offense continues at a Top-5 (or better) pace. Glazers won't let him out of the building. He won't be going anywhere.

the biggest difference is Godwin and the run game, but they are night and day

Coen is a legit OC, Canales was not so very little adjustment, put Godwin outside etc. Canales was old school, run, run run explosive (often deep).

Coen has Mayfield throwing mostly dink/dunk and he's also setting up defenses with motion, same look etc. Canales tried that

"The NextGen Stats chart for Baker Mayfield is out for Week 6 and the pattern of not throwing long continues. Against the slimy Saints on Sunday, Mayfield threw a grand total of one pass farther than 20 yards past the line of scrimmage."

You can see the difference between the two offenses (Coen v Canales) right here

https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/stats/passing/2024/REG/all#yards

Affectionately known as "some guys stats!"

Canales ran to try to keep the offense simple for the QB by keeping it in favorable down and distance.  When that didnt work the offense really struggled. One counter balance to that was Evans and deeper explosive attempts.

Coen has a completely different approach so far and some of that is due to the evolving success of the run game (because Coen is actually an OC)

And if stats are not enugh you can hear it in the way the players talk about the offense, ESPECIALLY CHRIS GODWIN.

and we are talking about players who had lots of respect for Canales

Canales was old school, run, run run explosive (often deep).

568 passes (19th in the NFL)

439 runs (23rd in the NFL)

Reality > Your ignorant perception of reality

Did you type that while in street clothes?

"“It’s definitely worthy of him making it a three-headed monster,” Bowles said in his Monday press conference. “He took advantage of his opportunities. He ran away from some tackles, some linebackers. He ran through the hole, he cut back, he made some great plays, he caught the ball well out of the backfield. So that gives us a three-headed monster.”

lol
