Don't feel bad Tampa locals who refuse to support your team, Indy fans suck too http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/12/31/colts-are-7000-tickets-short-of-a-sellout-for-saturday/ At one point, it appeared that the Broncos and Peyton Manning had a chance of returning to Indy for the wild-card round of the playoffs.  If that had happened, the Colts wouldn’t be hustling to sell tickets to the game. But with the Chiefs coming to town for the first Colts home playoff game of the post-Peyton era, the locals have yet to rush the box office.According to Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star, the Colts have roughly 7,000 tickets to sell in order to lift the blackout for Saturday’s playoff game.League rules require all non-premium tickets to be sold within 72 hours of kickoff in order to lift the blackout.  Typically, an extension of the deadline is granted only if a commitment has been made by the team and/or its sponsors to buy any remaining tickets at 34 cents on the dollar.  Given that Indy’s deadline lands on New Year’s Day, the league could grant an extension without a commitment to buy the excess tickets.Owner Jim Irsay has pointed out on Twitter that “MANY” tickets went on sale at 10:00 a.m. Monday.  Ultimately, the question may be how “MANY” tickets he’s willing to buy at a discount to allow folks who can’t or won’t go to the game to enjoy watching the home team play in the playoffs.UPDATE 10:19 a.m. ET:  The Colts have announced that an extension has been granted, due to the holiday.  The press release states that more than 6,000 tickets remain.

Actually I think the NFL sucks because they are the ones that set ticket prices for the playoff games.  I was in Ohio and went with an old friend for the Bengals/Ravens game.  They were really pushing playoff ticket sales because there were about 10,000 remaining as of Sunday. My friend is a long time Bengals season ticket holder.  He did not but playoff tickets because his $60 upper deck tickets are $225 next weekend.  We haven't seen playoff prices for a while in Tampa so we may get sticker shock when we return.  If I remember correctly ours were 30-40% higher for playoffs but not almost 4 times as muchNot buying tickets at those prices shows the NFL that we aren't going to take it anymore.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know the mark up was so high for playoff tickets, especially since the last bucs home playoff game was so long ago.

In all fairness, a quick check of the ticket sites for the Colts and Bengals shows the prices are up but maybe 50% or so on the unsold seats, so i would tend to agree with you that Colts fans do suck.

Only in sports customers are blamed at being unsupportive when prices are inflated.

Turns out the Bengals are struggling to shift their tickets too with 10,000 left to sell.At some point the NFL is going to have to realise that if they really want to bring fans back to the games they are going to have to drop the prices. It's not like these are regular games it's the freakin playoffs an half the games can't sellout in time.

Damn, $225?! I was a Jaguars season ticket holder back when I lived there and I think face value for our tickets were like $40 and game 1 was like $50 and the title game ticket was $55.

At least the Colts fans aren't the reason the team has been terrible for ten years.

Packers are 13,000 tickets short of a sell out.  Playoff prices have always jumped significantly and not only that, but they send out the notices to season ticket holders very early.    At the end of the Gruden era, they wouldn't even refund the money paid for playoff tickets if we were eliminated/didn't make it.    We had to apply to the next season's season ticket costs.

You know how notoriously disinterested Packer fans are. ;)None of the aspersions  traditionally cast on fans when ridiculously overpriced tickets to marginal products don't fly off shelves are valid. The NFL product is best experienced on TV anymore. I don't blame anybody who doesn't ask "how high?" when the NFL says "jump."
