After renegotiating a bunch of contracts (kicking the salary cap can down the road) and signing the Free Agents, the Bucs now have a little over $15 million in salary cap space. Around $11 million of that is needed to sign the draft class. That leaves the Bucs with a $4 million reserve to use to sign players who get cut before the season starts or in season if injuries dictate signing additional players.

Pretty slim.
I think they still have two more players that mentioned as possible "re-finance" candidates, but it seems like they do that only on an as needed basis.
Brock Purdy is #13.
Mike Evans is #13.
Christian Kirk is #13.
Who wins?
likely the guy they paid $265M to to be their franchise QB
Licht sounds like a shell instead of a GM...this year is gonna suck.
Take the under on W's
Competent OC in Robinson. Healthy Oline - Mauch, Bredeson, and Wirfs collectively missed like 86 games last season, (LOOK IT UP). Healthy WR corps - Evans, Godwin, McMillan, missed a collective 93 games last season (LOOK IT UP) An improved defense. Tampa should be the clear favorites to win the division next season.
they will be favored just because they have the most talented team and underachieved significantly last year. BUT CLEAR? yeah i'd put it more like "barely favored" and that is just crazy to think how formidable we looked in 2024

This is also completely false.

Evans wearing another number will be like watching Jordan wear 45. Ugh
Evans about to put up DeAndre Hopkins and Andre Johnson type encore performances with other teams, wear a different number, make less money in doing so, all while could have maintained legacy of being with one team the whole time.
the only thing i can think of is he is thinking of his brand after football and obviously has the ego that he is still elite....
Evans responds one of two ways....he is the barely 1,000 yard WR guy he's been the last half decade and contributes to the 49ers; OR
he continues to regress as shown last year and injuries linger and he is a disappointment with the 49ers.
He wanted a new challenge but man....feel it can easily blow up in his face.
One thing is for sure, he obviously didnt give a shit about his coach or quarterback in Tampa. I know Bowles is ass, we all know that, but for those saying it was a Bowles issue and not mentioning Baker in the same sentence is not being realistic about the situation that Evans chose Brock Purdy over Baker Mayfield.
Evans chose Brock Purdy over Baker Mayfield.
We will all hear the story from Evans perspective at some point.
His 49ers press conference and the comments from Kittle make it sound like Evans specifically sought out the 49ers, as compared to tested the waters on a bunch of teams and settled on the 49ers.
If that is accurate (and its just a guess) then he could've chosen them for so many different reasons. "Family reasons" (Licht's words). Bowles/Mayfield. STORIED franchise with chance to win. Or, just something as simple as relatively uncrowded WR where he could potentially be a #1. The 49ers reportedly took him as a 3rd choice and then paid him at the bottom of the WR1 scale.
Either way, these things happen and I would never begrudge the guy for looking at the current Bucs and thinking he could do better OR for just wanting a change or even padding his stats etc to try to get to "first ballot."
If you follow this team at all, Mike isn't leaving. He's either playing in Tampa or he's retiring.
Signing with another team at his age, isn't as simple as "Oh, I'll go play for New England..."
Funny how so few on here understand this.
The leghumpers continue to be hilarious.
Why should he stay with the Bucs when there is zero chance of getting another ring with Bowles as HC and DC. 2026 will be a lost season regardless.
so then what if he does?
Simple...I will have been wrong. Right?
You weren't. With Licht confirming they offered more money, it's pretty clear Evans left because of Bowles.
Third and 28.
Yes considering that Evans reached out to Kittle I would say @seekpar was spot on.
When Licht was just asked about it he said "family issue" apparently, but that one is hard to digest without more.
The only open question is why the 49ers specifically, but there could be multiple answers.
3rd and 28...I will never forget that.
I honestly believe that Evans left because he'd been to the mountaintop with Arians and Brady, and then had to settle for playing on .500 teams with Bowles and Mayfield. He is an elite player in the twilight of his career. There is some gas left in the tank. Did he want to tread water and ride it out with the Bucs? Or did he want to move on to a contender that has had Super Bowl aspirations in most of the past several seasons. Personally I applaud his decision. I believe he will be better for it, and still have a chance to chase another championship ring. I have his white Bucs jersey in my closet. I might just bring it out when I get an opportunity to watch him play for the 49ers this fall.
the only thing i can think of is he is thinking of his brand after football and obviously has the ego that he is still elite....
Or....just maybe...he wanted to play for a contender and get another chance at a Lombardi.
No offense to your boy and his impending statue being built outside of OBP.

Wait a second!
The litigating lush has spent the past few weeks trying to push the narrative that the Bucs INTENTIONALLY moved on to avoid bigger contracts for aging vets.
Clearly it has nothing to do with the amazing winning culture that Bowles and Licht has created, according to the alcoholic arbitrator.
Thanks for trying to read my posts, Ennis.
