White plays like he's injured. I think Bowles suggested some of the zone is protecting guys like White who struggle in MAN. Well, White's comments yesterday make it sound like he thinks the Bucs are holding him back (in a contract year):
“I’m doing everything that the defense allows me to do,” White said. “I’m really proud that I’m not out there playing not sound, I think that’s the perfect word for it. I feel like I can do a lot more and I think coach [Todd] Bowles is trying to find a way to get [players involved] — just having people coming in and out of the lineup we got to do certain things. Hopefully, he finds more ways to be even more creative to get everybody going, including myself. Doing different things and confusing offenses, there’s a lot more work I can do.”
any chance the Bucs are holding him back, in a year that is a wash anyway?
#45 is a gas bag, wind bag, whatever bag. He talks too much, what parts you can understand. The only one holding #45 back is #45 IMHO. If the Bucs re-sign him for BIG BUCS, it will be a huge mistake and hold back the franchise for years.
"I’m doing everything that the defense allows me to do,” White said.
Bwahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!
GTFOH dude. I think even the people that used to defend this guy's play have seen the light.
Ha!
I know everyone has strong feeling about the guy, so figured this might be an interesting thread
Its ironic that Bowles pounded the table to draft him and its going to lead to his demise.
Josh Allen has 9 sacks in the year and we still have 8 more weeks in the season. I was not happy Bucs passed on him because I knew White was never going to live up to his draft status.
There are no comments he could make that would make fans feel better about what happened in Texas. Did he come up with the exact right thing to say in this moment? Probably not, but it doesn't really matter. Davis said the right things, White didn't have mastery of what to say after a disastrous game. Who cares. They still lost either way.
What goes on in the locker room does matter, whether or not the team is sticking together so they can possibly win against the Titans and maybe salvage the season. But whether players have the gift of being good in the interview or not I don't think it's possible for me to care less about that.
I definitely was not posting about his speech. About the substance of his comments
Comments aside, Devin is a below average LB. The only thing he’s above average at is blitzing and pursuit. He has horrible tackling technique; coverage skills; gap control; and gets blocked too easily. And his side to side agility is like a 35 year old LB. So overrated.
White isn't even good at blitzing. He always whiffs because he tackles high.
Awful instincts
Awful angles
Awful tackling
He's all athleticism and no brain
Yesterday was as bad a day for White as he could probably imagine. Not only was he actually picked on by the 49ers, but that was all happening while a true star LB was playing on the other side.
