http://thebiglead.com/2014/02/04/conspiracy-theorist-makes-15-minute-video-claiming-nfl-rigged-seahawks-49ers-nfc-championship-game/ This video is great.  I've been saying for years that its so easy to rig and direct NFL games if someone wanted to.  Not saying all games are rigged or pre-determined.  Just that if the NFL wanted to, penalty calls and no calls are the easiest way to do it.The worst call of this whole game is the Delay of Game call against SF.  Close behind that is the 2nd and 5 play for Seattle that was called a 1st down and was at least a yard short.  I apologize if this has been posted already.  I didn't see it anywhere.

Science starts with a hypothesis, then collects data, and concludes with a theory designed to match the data. Conspiracies begin with a conclusion, then manipulates existing data into becoming ex post facto proof. There’s a term for this: it’s called confirmation bias.Science is falsifiable, meaning experiments are conducted with the expressed purpose of disproving previous hypotheses and theories. Conspiracies pass themselves off as being incapable of falsification, as if only the existence of an idea were proof enough of its veracity. It’s an amazing way of thinking that works to disregard all evidence to the contrary as delusions perpetrated by a nebulous enemy, e.g. Illuminati, Jews/global bankers, Masons, reptilians, etc.Science is cumulative and incremental, in that a gradual accumulation of data ultimately leads to an increasingly complete understanding of a given principle. Conspiracies tend to leap from beginning with a single over-arching hypothesis, such as “someone is out to get me,” and accelerate into a full-fledged conspiracy mythos.Science is essentially the pursuit of the simplest possible explanation for natural phenomena. Conspiracies thrive on complex, drawn-out plans that demand acceptance merely because they have the illusion of being far-reaching and all-encompassing..Thank you Dave Bowman

Cherry-pickingCherry-picking is more a deliberate act of deception than a logical fallacy, but nevertheless an extremely common tactic.Cherry-picking happens when someone deliberately selects from a wide variety of material only those items which support the conspiracy theory, while ignoring and discarding those which don't. When this carefully chosen selection of material is then presented as a whole, it easily misleads people into thinking that the conspiracy theory is supported by evidence. This is an especially popular tactic for the 9/11 conspiracy theorists: They will only choose those published photographs which support their claims, while outright ignoring those which don't. The Loose Change "documentary" is quite infamous for doing this, and pulling it out rather convincingly. The major problem with this is, of course, that it's pure deception: The viewer is intentionally given only carefully selected material, while leaving out the parts which would contradict the conspiracy theory. This is a deliberate act. The conspiracy theorists cannot claim honesty while doing clear cherry-picking.Just one example: There's a big electrical transformer box outside the Pentagon which was badly damaged by the plane before it hit the building. It's impossible for that box to get that damage if the building was hit by a missile, as claimed by conspiracy theorists (the missile would have exploded when hitting the box, several tens of meters away from the building). Conspiracy theorists will usually avoid using any photographs which show the damaged transformer box because it contradicts their theory. They are doing this deliberately. They cannot claim honesty while doing this.

What does 9/11 have to do with any of this?  That's fine if you want to write off 9/11 conspiracies.  But saying that one conspiracy theory is false, therefore all conspiracy theories are false is idiotic.  The word "conspiracy" exists for a reason.

Conspiracies usually need motives. Why would the league want a team with almost no national presence from a smaller TV market to win over a bigger name, bigger market team?

The NFL conspiracy theory is ridiculous. The NFL would never risk their business to potentially pick up a few more ratings points. They know someone always talks eventually. I could see a ref pulling something but not the league. But the video does show several bad calls and other mistakes that just cannot happen. Roger Goodell should spend more time fixing this stuff and less time tinkering with the rules. If you are going to “Protect the Shield”, this is a fine place to start.

To keep the belief in chance. Then, go back to letting LA win some more championships...I still believe there is some "sway" outside of football. Off the field I guarantee there are "games" being played.

I completely agree this form of conspiracy is called cherry picking which I noted above.Cherry-picking happens when someone deliberately selects from a wide variety of material only those items which support the conspiracy theory, while ignoring and discarding those which don't. When this carefully chosen selection of material is then presented as a whole, it easily misleads people into thinking that the conspiracy theory is supported by evidence.
