Cosell Likes Marriage of Winston and KoetterJustin Pawlowski      @CommishOnlineMay 26, 2015 Cosell_Zpsdvhqh3Yt.jpgNobody in the NFL watches as much film as NFL Films' senior producer Greg Cosell. Cosell explains in this piece the marriage that worked between Dirk Koetter and Matt Ryan, and how the marriage between Koetter and Jameis Winston could be similar.New Bucs offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter has spent the last few seasons with the Falcons and Matt Ryan. During those seasons, Ryan saw his best years, statistically, in the NFL. Is it possible that new Bucs QB Jameis Winston could face a similar fate?NFL Films' senior producer Greg Cosell recently wrote a piece for yahoo.com where he discussed the new marriage between Jameis Winston and Dirk Koetter. The comparison between Winston and Matt Ryan was a natural one for Cosell."Physically and stylistically there are similarities," Cosell wrote. "Especially to Ryan when he was coming out of Boston College."The Bucs hope the Winston can be the franchise quarterback this franchise has been searching for since Doug Williams. To make the transition a smooth one for Winston, the Bucs need stability and a strong supporting cast."Ryan was successful with Koetter," Cosell continued. "He had the classic NFL quarterback development and got better every year (his numbers may have fluctuated a bit as his supporting cast got better or worse, but as a quarterback he has steadily improved). Coming out of college Ryan was a bit of a strider as he threw, not a great quick-twitch athlete, but a natural thrower who can also make firm touch throws that are required in the NFL. You can say these same things about Winston. Ryan had good years with Mike Mularkey as his offensive coordinator early on, and then fit Koetter's system well. I think Winston will fit Koetter's offense well too."Cosell went on to write that Winston's best chance at success might be the weapons he has in Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson. However, Cosell did point out the concerns with the Bucs' offensive line and the lack of a true feature back.Back in October, Cosell expressed his issues with Doug Martin."I don't think Doug Martin at this very moment is a very good runner," Cosell said of the Bucs run game woes in October. "I think he's stiff. I don't think he has the same lateral agility and explosion that he had his first year in the league. I don't think he gets more yards than what are there. To me, that's a problem with a running back."Building the Bucs' offense has been a slow process, but the pieces are starting to be put in place to have success. It will all start and end with the marriage between Jameis Winston and Dirk Koetter.
