Be a HOFer?
His play this season was incredible and I saw Bowles mention that his practice habits are world class, a trait often associated with star player, so it made me wonder where he stands, as compared to other safeties in the HOF?
Does he actually have a chance?
Obviously Lynch is one parallel but Lynch was a leader on a defense that changed football etc
IF Winfield Jr. can keep this pace up it is possible. For a safety to make the HOF they need to have the numbers to back it up with splash plays which Winfield Jr. is more than capable of producing.
I mean trending that way
Same with wirfs
however, they go pulling an Andrew luck or Ali Marpet than the answer is No
A lot of careers get shortened by injuries, knock on wood and hope that isn't the case for Winfield. Another Superbowl or two would help. According to SR in his battle plan the Bucs are or should be going all in in 2025. There are 20 safeties in the Hall- not many. Two Buccaneer DBs are already in the HOF so that could be a factor in the minds of voters if it was a borderline situation.
There are a lot of good safeties out there, and some of them are hitting free agency. It's just not a position held in high esteem these days. If Winfield wants to make the HOF there will have to be some more heroics in the postseason in addition to another decade or so of regular season accomplishments. If there is even a conversation about it ten years from now that means there's been some fun years for Bucs fans during that time.
