Why would the Cardinals do it? They are trading one guy on the last year of his contract for another one, and giving up a 3rd round pick for that? The Cardinals are rebuilding. This makes no sense for them.
I do not think the Cardinals want to deal with a headache of a big contract, because this is a make it or break it year for Murray and there are future dead cap space ramifications as a result If Murray can't show he is up to the task of being the franchise QB for the Cards they are in the hunt to draft a QB next off season with their first pick of the draft. And the Cardinals have the ammo to move up if necessary.
Right now the Cardinals roster structure is top heavy towards the offense and I think that is by design. They want to see what Murray can do on offense with the existing core players. Meanwhile Gannon takes a hard look at the current players they have on a very ordinary defensive unit on paper.
2023 is purely an evaluation year for the rebuilding Cards.

If there was really work being done here, why would he be posting that stuff? You would be keeping quiet. So I just have to assume he or his agent is trying to make something happen. The only minor detail he forgot is he's not in the NBA.

Licht keeps taking positions out of wack and I think it adds extra pressure AND expectations to pay them.
If Devin White was a 2nd round pick this isn't an issue. We'd probably pay him like a 2nd round pick for his second contract.
