Its been going downhill since Gene Upshaw. They have an election next March IIRC, and 3 people have already expressed interest in the job. Including Mr Derrick Brooks, and Sean Gilbert, and the 3rd candidate is keeping it on the down low.

Well it was smart because now he won't be drafted by a team that doesn't accept who he is. Had he waited until after the draft he might have been drafted by a team that wouldn't accept it. It's a much smarter strategy to let it be known now rather than later. Plus is opens the doors for other people. Hopefully this gives Aaron Rodgers the courage to finally say what he contemplated saying last year.

If scouts and agents knew then what was said about the wrong team drafting him really isn't relevant. Just don't think it's necessary to announce it like this. I just don't think his sexuality should be relevant

That may have been the original plan. But he may have been forced into going public with it now, rather then later.
