Talk about bad... http://www.dailynorseman.com/2014/1/2/5268362/vikings-deny-falcons-permission-to-interview-jeff-davidson That just flat-out stinks, IMO.
Maybe they will promote him?
His presence could lure potential head-coaching candidates, but its still a dick move.
If he is under contract and a good coach, why would you not keep him until you hire a coach to interview and possibly retain him.

Yup. Maybe give the new coach some more choices first. When a team blocks, it usually means they're going to keep him.

The slim to none odds he is kept can't out weight the fact that you don't want to be a giant a$$. By waiting this guy loses out on the chance for a job for no reason other than a "might" on keeping him.
The Bucs have done this several times in the past as well, with Rod Marinelli and Joe Barry IIRC. Not a fan of that practice.

+1

agreed, what goes around comes around. Might be poetic justice that we played this game with Marinelli and now it might be used against us for him.

Unless I am recalling incorrectly, not after firing the head coach they worked under. I don't have a problem blocking access to a guy that clearly still has a job for the coming year (meaning the staff is still expect to remain intact) but after the head coach has been fired? Not a fan of that.
