Depite firing the HC, Vikings deny assistant chance to interview elsewhere

Talk about bad... http://www.dailynorseman.com/2014/1/2/5268362/vikings-deny-falcons-permission-to-interview-jeff-davidson That just flat-out stinks, IMO.

His presence could lure potential head-coaching candidates, but its still a dick move.

If he is under contract and a good coach, why would you not keep him until you hire a coach to interview and possibly retain him.

Yup. Maybe give the new coach some more choices first.When a team blocks, it usually means they're going to keep him.

The slim to none odds he is kept can't out weight the fact that you don't want to be a giant a$$. By waiting this guy loses out on the chance for a job for no reason other than a "might" on keeping him.

The Bucs have done this several times in the past as well, with Rod Marinelli and Joe Barry IIRC. Not a fan of that practice.

agreed, what goes around comes around.  Might be poetic justice that we played this game with Marinelli and now it might be used against us for him.

Unless I am recalling incorrectly, not after firing the head coach they worked under. I don't have a problem blocking access to a guy that clearly still has a job for the coming year (meaning the staff is still expect to remain intact) but after the head coach has been fired? Not a fan of that.
