Andre Reed OTOH it is criminal he made it in.
How wide open is the door at that position now? I was young when he played, but don't think of him as top 5 player at his position during his generation (probably right outside top 5, but still).
It's horrible that Sterling Sharpe has his career cut short because he's better than every receiver of his era but Jerry Rice and maybe Michael Irvin.

same could be said for Terrell Davis

Wide open, i think this was a pity vote and an effort to recgonize a team that went to 4 SB's. To me, Reed is about the same guy as Kennan McCardell. He piled up a lot of yards but he was never that special.
If Art Monk is a hall of farmer then so is Reed.
Reed being in over Haley or Dungy is really lousy.

Same sort of player, neither should be HoF. Like I said, make a case against McCardell compared to those 2.
Brooks, Andre Reed, Walter Jones, Aeneas Williams and Strahan are in
How the hell does Andre Reed make the HOF?
Aeneas Willliams, deserving, is also in.

Agree. Sterling should be in all damn day over Reed. In 7 NFL seasons Sterling had 1000+ receiving yards 5 times (with another at 961). In 16 seasons Reed did that 4 times. Sterling also has 2 1400+ yard receiving seasons (Reed 0). 2 100+ reception seasons (Reed 0). Reed's high catch season was 90, that would tie Sterling's 4th high catch season. You could make a strong argument that Sharpe was the best wide receiver in football for a couple of individual seasons. I don't think you could pick out a single season and make a case that Andre Reed was a top 3 receiver in the league that year.
Dungy isn't a 1ST ballot hall of famer unless you factor in race...which shouldn't be a factor.

Winning matters, and his career win % is higher than Curley Lambeau, Joe Gibbs, Bill Walsh, Tom Landry for example and is .004 less than Paul Brown. Plus, he won a Super Bowl and his coaching tree has also been amazingly successful. No, race isn't what should get him in the HoF.
I think he should get in eventually , but not 1st ballot.
@mortreport 10mAeneas Williams in that final 5 along with Derrick Brooks, Walter Jones, Andre Reed & Michael Strahan for @ProFootballHOF
Congrats to Mr. Brooks. No one deserves this honor more. I want to see what that clown Tedy Bruschi has to say for himself now. Heh
