Orton is a quality backup. If Glennon is a starter then he is an excellent candidate to be the backup.
Wanted Orton years ago. He would have been a quality Dom signing. Sign that man if he busts loose! He is great insurance, with the ability to guide a team for long periods. It's a start to creating quality depth since the starting gig is still up for grabs...
We are taking about the same player guys. This is Kyle Orton we are talking about. A career back-up. I'm not sure he's going to push Glennon for the starting position. If the Bucs do go the Free Agency route then I hope it's Josh McCown, Matt Cassel or Matt Flynn. Hell I'd even settle for Chad Henne.

very good backup. I would sign him to be the backup for sure. Lets be real, nobody is coming iin to compete with Glennon for the starting job. We're either drafting a QB early and giving him the team, or Glennon is the starting QB for 2014.

Orton would not have been a good signing, his contract for a backup QB is ridiculous. He has a $4.4M cap number.

Matt Flynn is trash. I don't see why any team would sign him at this point.
I'd put him in the same category as cassel, flynn, etc.He's probably better than glennon, like the rest of these guys, but the "mission" should be to find a qb who has potential talent to give us a fighting chance within this division. I only see three guys available to us that could do that, and they're all in draft.

Capable starters if need be. Nothing against Orton. I've just never seen anything out of him when he's had the chance to start. At least Cassel, McCown and Flynn have shown flashes. Personally I'd like to see what Tedford could get out one of these guys if Glennon isn't deemed to be the answer. We will know the Bucs intentions within a month or so when Free Agency opens.
Flynn clearly isn't a starter anywhere but GB. Cassel is a more shot version of Orton. McCown is a two or three game wonder. Orton isn't great but in a world of guys like Orlovsky he is a top end backup. I'd rather have him than any of those three guys.
He is a backup that could win you games if forced into action so if the price is right, this might make sense. In fact, as time goes along I see the paradigm of Glennon as starter with vet backup as being likely.
