I think this is a bit dated but just saw Sapp credited Bowles for benching White.
Thanks for posting. Great read. Good for Britt!

Solid article. The ironic part is the people posting/liking this article were the same ones saying PFF didn't know what they were talking about when Devin White routinely graded out poorly when he came into the league.
Yeah. Sapp basically roasted him, we said the team was able to see that Bowles wasnt soft or messin around when he benched White for Britt. Bowles made a statement with that benching. The best player plays...that is all. It doesnt matter your contract or your draft status...if you dont play according to your expectations, the next player, the better player will TAKE YOUR SPOT. Thats something BA woulda done too. Its a Ballsy move, but neccesary to get the team "mental" right and gets the team a few steps closer to playing TEAM FOOTBALL. Dont ever forget. FOOTBALL IS A TEAM SPORT FIRST, and led by star players. Sometimes the star players, the GOATS, are drafted in the 6th round, a nobody, a developmental/practice squad QB. Then that QB gets a chance. Or maybe its a first round MLB with all the hype and all the big head that comes with it, you forget to be humble and hungry when your head gets too big. I think Whites head got too big. If he can fix his own mental, well....we shall see, but fixing ones OWN MENTAL IS HARD AF, it requires looking inward first and entertaining the possibility that YOU are the one at fault, and maybe YOU are the one that is wrong, and then accepting responsibility and making REAL Changes. Only LIONS can do that shiz, they are more sheep in this world than LIONS. Is White a SHEEP or LION? I dunno, Ive seen alot of WHITE SHEEPS before. But I have seen a few WHITE LIONS, one was called REGGIE WHITE!!!!

Actually, the most ironic part, is the person posting this article was a huge advocate of ditching LVD this past offseason to get “younger and faster” and that #45 was worth “multiple 1st rounders” in a trade scenario.
And I remember naïve fans claiming White would get better in coverage, he just needed more games under his belt. As of this dude ever shown good coverage skills at LSU. He is basically the same player he always has been. I hope people learned that understanding nuances isn't something that is guaranteed to happen over time. You either got it your don't, when it comes to instincts.
True. I mean…right now he’s only good if used like a missle, use that speed to blitz the QB on 3rd and long with AW3!!!!, and I don’t see how Goff can carve us up if we attack him and go after him with speed missles coming for him. He’s good with run blitz as well, sumtimes anyhoo. I really don’t see him being effective aside from those avenues at this point with his play….

snd professionalism
I remember Lynch telling a story about listening to Sapp and Brooks talk about techniques to eliminate false steps. Two of the fastest guys in their position, both with great instincts, and still relentlessly working to get better.
you see some of that commitment in LVD, but no way in White

Exactly!
But, he was loud and had a huge social media presence.
So, the casuals lap that stuff up.

Those people were same ones saying the same thing about Mark Barron, Gaines Adams, etc.. "He's only going to get better!" No, all players don't get better. Some players get better, some players stay stagnant, and some get worse.
And no, those same people won't learn their lesson. There will be another player that those same simps will regurgitate their coach-speak nonstop. Such is life.
