Simple question...do the Bucs win a SB without Brady? I've read over and over that Jason Licht is the architect of the Bucs SB. BUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
So, SF says no thanks to Brady...he fell into our lap. But since the low IQ goobers in this town want to claim that Jason Licht BUILT a SB winner...so question for you low IQ losers...if Brady doesn't come here do we still win a SB?
That's a no. Brady brought the winning culture, swagger and every player that scored in the SB.
Jason Licht is garbage. a 45% losing %
I'm trying to educate the losers in this town that think JL is some kind of winner. He was Mark Dominik loser before Brady...and what is he after? Worthless.
No, but Licht is responsible for surrounding Brady with talent (o-line, running backs, and WR’s), not to mention building the defense that held Mahomes and the Chiefs to 9 points in that Super bowl.
It wouldn’t have happened without Brady, anymore than it would have happened without Licht’s oversight and acquisitions.
Can't have one without the other...Licht built the foundational core of the team...then signed Brady ( GM responsibillity ) then put even more talent around him through the trade for Gronk, and pulling Lenny, and AB off the FA scrap heap. Licht also brought in Suh,JPP,Jensen in the years prior in addition to his drafted players....Does Tampa win SB without Brady? likely not, but by that metric does NE win all those SB' without Brady ? Also likely not.....Don't cherry pick to try and fit your agenda. Licht is a solid GM...Perfect? of course not, but there isn't one out there that is.

There's no place here for this kind of reasonableness.
(great post)

If he's so good as a GM...why the 45% winning % im 12 years...12 freaking years is a long time...no? Why was he only a winner when Brady was here? Why does is suck without the GOAT?
Simpleton

Cherry pick? Interesting. What has he done in 12 years without brady
No, we don’t win. Remember that pass interference call against Tyler Johnson late in the game versus the packers, a game where they were letting them play all day. Yeah, the Bucs without Brady do not get that call. With Brady, of course! NFL just loved Brady in the superbowl
In terms of the talent on the team, lichts drafts from 2018 to 2020 were elite and helped shape the superbowl squad.
unfortunately, he hasn’t had a great draft since 2020 and alas he’s on hot seat
he should be fired if this next coaching hire doesn’t work out but hopefully harbaugh gives us a good 5-7 years
What has he done in 12 years without brady
In one way of looking it at he survived Lovie Smith and Jameis Winston (they were taking Winston no matter what) for the first five of those years
The he brought in Arians out of retirement (a unique win, for sure) to evaluate Winston and turn things around.
Skip the Brady era, but then you have 3 UNEXPECTED playoff years.
Not sure that the owners would look at that as terrible, especially when you look at some of the players he has drafted.
Even this season there are multiple asterisks for Licht. The Bowles "playoff" era is ending in large part because the 2025 team was decimated by injuries to many of the key players he drafted AND other guys he drafted are transitioning out while he brings in a 2025 class that, at least early on (too early, perhaps) looks pretty good.
I totally get the 2025 season was rough, but I would be very surprised if the Glazers had anywhere near the same "lets blow it all up" outlook on the team or Licht. All the more so on Licht because Licht's job is much broader than building the roster.
At worst, and unless something crazy happens like Harbaugh comes and bring whole FO lol, Licht is probably seen as having a fresh start to a NEW era (if they are firing Bowles). He's probably out of special tricks like brining in another Arians (Belicheck?) or Brady, so lets see how he does on a more traditional route.
I think that is more likely the owners outlook, but obviously could be wrong.
Brady came to the Bucs because of the roster Licht assembled and was leaving the Patriots roster which was in disarray on the offensive side of the ball. This isn't rocket science so go back across the pond.
This post sounds like a troll seeking engagement.
Licht inherited a mess leftover from Lovie. Post Lovie- Drafting Winston was the clear choice there and unfortunately being bad at the wrong time could set franchises back. I think we all agree those Winston teams were pretty talented and if he developed in to a good QB the wins would have been there. But he didn't.

Ok I'll bite...Lets go back to the beginning shall we? Not only did he not have anything to do with Lovie being hired since he was brought in after the fact, but if you recall( probably not ) this team was completely devoid of talent when he got here, and was going to take a few years of roster building. To say the cupboard was bare would be a gross understatement! This team had a handfull of talented players in Vincent Jackson, Doug Martin ( in the middle of a full blown bout with addiction ), Gerald McCoy, Lavonte David, and Revis ( who was already half way out the door in his mind by week 1 and was good as gone by the time Licht came on board).
I'll give you that his first few drafts were very hit and miss, but what he did was lay the foundation for that Superbowl team. 2014 Lovie went 2-14, his hand picked OC Tedford never even made it past the pre-season before he stepped away for health reasons ( probably saw what he had for talent and was like F this ) then came in Marcus Arroyo whom had never called plays and was as green as they come.
2015 upgrades through FA came and Arroyo was replaced with Koetter. Bucs go 6-10 thanks to updrades through free agency, and the draft which brought in by many the consensus #1 QB prospect (ultimately didnt work out, but still better than Mariota) as well as future SB starters Donovan Smith, and Ali Marpet.
2016 Lichts first coaching selection retained Koetter because he brought the best offense this team had seen since Gruden was on the sideline. For the draft his was a total dud but Cameron Brate was brought in and the team went 9-7 showing signs of life.
2017 and 2018- two dissapointing 5-11 seasons (Mike Smith' piss poor defense didnt help matters ), but talent was added in the form of future SB starters Chris Godwin,JPP,Vita Vea,Ronald Jones,Jensen,Cappa,Whitehead,Carlton Davis
2019 ( Licht' second coaching selection comes on board in Arians) team improves to 7-9 with the additions of Suh,SMB.Dean,Scotty Miller,Devin White, and Shaq Barrett.
Again without Brady does the team win the SB ? likely not, but lets not act as if all of the talent that Licht brought in leading up to that were here day 1. I've also mentioned in previous posts that coaching matters just as much as the talent aquisition especially as it pertains to the draft. Licht is not an Al Davis,Ballke,Jerry Jones type GM where he takes players and its up to the coaches to make them work. He gathers input from everyone from HC down to Assistant Positiional coaches to see who they think they can work with and coach up ( again no defensive players have made any kind of progression whatsoever from their rookie season in the time that Bowles has been here be it as a DC or HC ),so who knows over the years what coaches pounded the table for players that ultimately didnt work out. Yes his record is sub 500 but it took time to build the house...This team has talent it just needs coached up. He is also 2 wins away from being the franchise's ONLY 100 win GM. If the Glazers keep Bowles around then Licht's fate very well may coincide with Bowles, but if Bowles is shown the door, I think Licht deserves another opportunity to find the coach that leads the team into the future.
Contrary to many on here, this roster isn’t very far away from being ready to compete for a Super Bowl. That’s why keeping Bowles is so maddening.
There are few offensive rosters stronger than ours. Our defense needs a ton of help at the second level but, it’s one good offseason away from competing.
Brady gave us the blueprint as an organization on how to proceed with excellence. Let’s hope the Glazers make the right decision.
Also, please no Harbaugh in Tampa. He’s not the guy.
I kind of understand what the OP means. I’ve said it in another thread: take away Brady (and the Super Bowl win we wouldn’t have achieved without him) and I’m not sure we’d feel as warm & fuzzy about the BA era.
But, Licht (and the Glazer pocketbook) was absolutely critical in building that team surrounding Brady.
Makes me wonder why we didn’t do much in FA and before the trade deadline this season. I’m sure there was/were reasons, maybe we’ll get some insights into that by the end of the week?

Licht is not a great GM. But...many of us are just saying, he should get to hire his next coach and see how that goes. The thought of him partnering with a guy like Harbaugh makes me think we could have a decade of success together. He didnt have much of a choice with Bowles back in 2022 so really, he gets 1 more crack at it.
as we saw with previous Buc GMs, we can do alot worse than Licht.
and yeah we had the GOAT.....how many SBs would New England have had without Brady? probably zero.
Ok to discount Licht's success there, just saying, it was his drafting in 2018 and 2019 with Godwin and Evans weapons that brought Brady to Tampa. Without Wirfs and Winfield, we likely dont win the SB either. So give credit where credit is due
