Warren Sapp still banging the anti-Strahan drumPosted on January 28, 2014 Sapp_Zps0E2Bd579.Jpg As the Super Bowl approaches this weekend, we also will learn the names for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2014. So, that also means that we have Hall of Fame defensive lineman Warren Sapp flapping his gums about Michael Strahan, who is a finalist for the second year in a row.Sapp and Strahan don’t have the greatest relationship, at least professionally. The two have been butting heads ever since the summer after Strahan broke the single-season sack record. Sapp called it a ‘travesty,’ because Brett Favre seemed to take a dive to give Strahan the record. Strahan responded by calling Sapp a ‘jackass.’ In any event, these two have traded barbs through the years, including last year when Strahan was a finalist for the first time. Sapp didn’t think Strahan should get in then, and doesn’t think he deserves it now.Via Newsday:“I don’t think his resume stacks up when you put Tony Dungy, Walter Jones, Marvin Harrison and Derrick Brooks up,” he said Tuesday during a brunch featuring NFL Network analysts. “Those are four first-ballot Hall of Famers.” Eh, while Derrick Brooks was a mighty fine linebacker, his name doesn’t resonate with the others Sapp mentioned. He certainly doesn’t stack up with linebackers of the past who have been inducted, either. There is a bit of bias from Sapp, since the two were teammates. Much like when Sapp would tout Simeon Rice as a better defensive end than Strahan. “When you stack it up,” Sapp said, “and he only has four straight Pro Bowls [actually three straight on two different occasions] and a mythical sack record that y’all still walk around like it’s something to be praised — I mean y’all have got to get off your high horse in New York and speak about the real. And when you really measure him up, he comes up short.”Pro Bowls? We are basing this on Pro Bowls and not an actual resume of how he played?Sapp went on: “When you talk about stacking it up it just don’t stack that high, except y’all are giving to him. Y’all don’t take that same critical eye as when you’re looking at somebody else. Oh, it’s Michael, aww, he’s our guy, he’s on TV with Kelly [Ripa]and oh, he’s such a good guy!Last year, Sapp attempted to knock Strahan by saying he played against right instead left tackles, at least that was a football argument. Now, he’s trying to fight a media narrative that doesn’t exist. “I thought you got into the Hall because your resume stacked up with the echoes of the game — not just the good, the great. And four straight Pro Bowls [is good], but it ain’t great and we’re talking about the Hall, right?”<Well, Strahan is fifth all-time in sacks, and even surpassed Lawrence Taylor's sack total. I think that holds up pretty darn well.Update: Strahan had a strong response for Sapp when he caught wind of his words.Via NY Post:When relayed those comments, Strahan, the Giants great, fired back at his longtime critic, calling Sapp a “sheep and a coward.”“[I’m] glad he doesn’t have a vote,” said Strahan, one of 15 finalists who will be considered for enshrinement in the Hall’s Class of 2014 when the selection committee meets on Saturday morning, during a press conference of Fox Sports’ on-air talent at the Sheraton in Midtown. He later said: “A tiger does not pay attention to the opinion of a sheep.”“I’m all hype,” said Strahan, 42, tongue planted in cheek. “I lasted 15 years on all hype, 141 1/2 career sacks, all hype. I was always a starter, coaches put me out there, because I was just hype. I played left end, and that made me get sacks.”This probably isn’t the end of this. http://network.yardbarker.com/nfl/article_external/warren_sapp_still_banging_the_anti_strahan_drum/15651308?linksrc ="story_sport_nfl_module_image_15651308"

Sapp and Strachan were both great players with Sapp being more dominant in his hey-day however I really don't care if Strachan gets in the hall. I just hope it isn't at DB55's expense...that I would have a big problem with.

Strahan is deserving, and I'm glad that Sapp got in before him.  Wish Sapp could put this aside, because it does make him look like an a$$, but when has that ever stopped him.The thing about Brooks invalidates all of the "journalism" that went into this.

if Strahan gets in and Brooks doesn't you will know the fix is inBrooks career is the definition of HOF and his resume is flawless. I remember reading an article by a prominent voter and influential sports writer and he said that if 55 doesn't get in on the first ballot that something is very wrong and the process is rigged

Sapp has always been an @$$. I didn't like him as a person when he was in Tampa but he's a great player.

while i respect Sapp for what he's done in Tampa i thnk he's way out of line when talking about Strahan not being a 1st ballot. I live in Jersey and had to watch the damn Giants a lot and Strahan was an absolute beast in his prime, a guy that at times was unblockable and could impact an entire game all by himself kinda like Sapp would do. Mr. Sapp always had a better Defense surrounding him then what Strahan had in NY. it wasn't till late in Stra92's Career that the G-Men started to build a really good front line when drafting J. Tuck and OSI not to mention Mathais K. anyways Strahan is without a doubt a 1st ballot HOFer and Sapp needs to shut his trap cuz he's getting me sick, always mouthing off and not minding his damn business.

No way he's 1st ballot worthy but 2nd or 3rd time sure!

again I've seen this guy week in and week out and trust me when i tell you that he would change the game by himself i mean it. Strahan didn't have the D that Sapp lets keep that in back of our heads.. he (Stra92) was the focus of every offensive game plan every week, still dominated
