Dominik has made his fair share of mistakes since taking over from Bruce Allen, but he certainly has done a better job acquiring talent. He's been innovative with the contracts, designing them well enough to attract great talent, yet still not put the Bucs back in cap hell like Rich McKay. He knows the whole organization better than anyone, and he is respected around the league. This franchise needs the stability and experience he provides. It would take a new GM years to reach that point. IMO, it would be a huge mistake to fire him. There is certainly a better foundation for success than the one he took over.

I would bet $1000 right now that he would NOT get hired if/when he gets fired after this season as a GM for another NFL team.

Really going out on a limb there considering that there will be maybe 3 GM jobs open at any given time, including the one he'd have gotten fired from

I don't think he's as bad as some people make him out to be, but he can't stay. 5 years without making the playoffs is inexcusable. I would like to know how much input he had in bringing in Morris and Schiano though.

He's not the worst GM in the league but how does he keep his job after 5 years and no playoffs and only 1 winning season?I think he's added more talent to the Bucs than Allen did, and he'll leave the team in better shape than it was when he got here but there's no way he stays with 5 years and no playoffs. Just look at KC their GM got fired with 10 + Pro Bowlers and a playoff appearance, now Andy Reid has a team loaded with talent. Never said being a GM was fair since you can't predict injuries or how a coach will develop players but Dom has to be held accountable for the poor depth and the constant losing under his watch.

Agreed with all of this.

Dom has done some dumb things, like mc80 contract, qb's contract' etc, but do I think he's dumb?  No.He wanted chip and sherman first, signed revis for a sweetheart deal no one would've thought possible beforehand, has gotten the glazers to spend somehow on solid FA's, is pretty good with moving around the draft boards, and if you like david, mccoy, mw, martin, blount, rainey, james, banks, barron, foster, etc, because it doesn't matter what a coach wants, the gm signs off on it. Therefore, we have to give thanks to dom for those guys, as well as the failures. In reality, we're only missing a hc, de, and qb. Dom pretty much tries to do what his hc wants. The obvious change in fa philosophy from rah to schiani might suggest as much. Either way, that is a good thing that any hc to have the direct line to the draft. It was actually one of the reasons they Said he hired him in the beginning, his connection to talent from college. That part actually happened as planned.

When I look at Dom I see a man who brought us from having little to no money to spend each year to having millions of dollars to spend each year.

This is just flat out incorrect and yet people keep saying this over and over.  He inherited an excellent cap situation, he didn't create it.  He can't judge talent to save his life and he can't negotiate for crap. And if you actually look at the "talent" on this team, you will see that almost every piece was brought in either before he was GM or after Rutgers got here.  In the time he was the undisputed decision maker, the only things he brought in were McCoy, which was a complete no-brainer of a decision, and Williams, which was a good gamble.

28-51 regular season record as Bucs' GM since 2009.No playoff appearances/division titles. No one from 2009 draft is on roster. No franchise QBNo consistent pass rushers.Yes. Marky Mark Dominick and the Funky Bunch need to go immediately along with the head coach.

You would lose that bet. Rich McKay and Bruce Allen were never in the unemployment line. Dominik is an upgrade over McKay on contracts, and an upgrade over Allen on talent evaluation. Dominik wouldn't miss a minute he didn't want to, and the Bucs would be worse off in the long run.

Dennis Hickey wouldn't stay, I'm assuming... Reason enough to dump Dominik on it's own.

I like Dom, but worse off?  Worse off than almost twice as any losses than wins and no playoffs and no franchise QB etc.?  How could be worse off? We're in the same conversation with the Jags and Raiders and Browns . .

It all comes down the the GM.  He has been part in selecting two coaches that have not produced.  He was part of drafting a 1st round franchise QB that turned bust.  He is part of the effort that gave a stupid contract to Eric Wright, Q Black and Clayton. He has been part of the reason the Bucs are still on the worse side of 8-8.  I like the man and think he has done some good things. But I do not believe he deserves a chance to select a third coach.  If Schiano is fired, so should Dom.

well said. I like Dom too and was a big proponent of giving him a complete opportunity.  He has done some things well during his tie, but his record is his record and if you freeze time right now is the team ascending or declining? Dom has almost twice the number of losses to wins and we are a team almost falling apart in few key areas, no franchise QB, no DE, a crumbling offensive line . .

How many teams did the Bucs play this season that didn't have any of their 2009 draft class on Halloween?

If one goes then they both go.  I think the Glazers want to hire a Director of Football Operations....a real experienced football guy and I would love to see Stokes promoted to GM.    Let those two find their Coach

Whats the average career of an NFL player? Of that time how much is with the team that drafted them? I would say a good amount a teams dont have a whole lot left from the 2009 draft.
