The Buccaneer defense has gone from a joke in 2011, to best in the league in defending the run in 2012, to respectable in 2013. The next step is feared in 2014. The offense was the most prolific in franchise history, ranking in the top ten, with Josh Freeman at QB. It could have been even better if Freeman actually wanted to be here, but Freeman tanked it in order to get released. He will live to regret that, if he doesn't already. I believe Schiano will get the offense fixed for 2014. Freeman was the turd in the punchbowl. He's gone. Beef up the OL. Get a TE that can block AND catch the ball, and get a speed receiver. The defense needs an edge rusher. I'm pretty sure we'll have a new OC and a few other coaching changes. A fresh start for Glennon should help He's never had a full contingent of starters around him. Schiano has tried to fix everything all at once. It's just not possible, but he has made a radical change when the players he has brought in have been healthy.The biggest impact has been on defense so far. Schiano's drafts have been great and I want that to continue. Great coaches don't become great without great players. I believe the pieces are coming together. I also believe most of the posts in this thread are childish and impatient. You focus on the negative and completely ignore the positives.

I was completely wrong about Freeman. Everything hinged on him. Who could possibly know he would sabotage the team in order to force his release? Schiano has much to learn about game management, but recognizes even the most obscure talent and where they fit on a team. We would have no trophy named Lombardi without Bart Starr, Jim Taylor, and Paul Hornung. Great teams need great players. Vince Lombardi himself couldn't have this bunch to the playoffs in just two years.If Schiano stays, the Bucs will have a top 10 defense next year, and a top 15 offense to go with it.If you're perfect, you can be critical of everyone on this board whose opinion doesn't work out. If there are absolutely no changes to the coaching staff, I'll be pissed off. I think Sullivan is an awesome person, but he's a really **CENSORED**ty OC.
Reserving judgement on Sullivan. The offense is rock solid when at full strength and executed properly. Also, it's Schiano's approach and philosophy that Sullivan is handcuffed to. He had a streaky Freeman running the offense, followed by a rookie QB in Glennon, without the services of Martin and Williams. It's easy to bag on Sullivan, but how many times now have we seen film and screen shots posted (on this forum, mind you) that show open receivers. The QB either doesn't see them or doesn't have time to get the ball to them. My only real complaint(s) with Sullivan is the lack of screen plays and, whether fully on him or not, the anemic performance of his offenses against 3-4 defenses. Moot point with Sully if Schiano is let go.

They will be running his shit and restricted to the game plan and only the game plan.
