2019 Free Agency Profile: Donovan Smith

• TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS • DONOVAN SMITH • FEB 4, 2019
Though he did earn a career-high overall grade this past season, Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive tackle Donovan Smith’s 66.4 mark in 2018 isn’t too impressive. Smith’s 52.7 run-blocking grade dragged his overall grade down quite a bit, but he did register a moderately impressive 69.9 pass-blocking grade on the year.
Pro Football Focus will be running through 50-plus pending/soon-to-be free agents between January 7, 2019 and March 8, 2019 to offer a detailed analysis of the top players bound for new contracts and (possibly) new teams in 2019. We want to house all of the important grades, advanced stats and key analysis for each player, so you know exactly what your team is getting in free agency.
Smith will likely get overpaid for talents because quality, reliable offensive tackle play is so hard to find in today’s NFL. He’s played over 1,000 offensive snaps every year of his four-year career and has improved as a pass blocker of late.
