and talent? ehh...we are mid there...everyone has some good players; we tend to inflate our own guys.Â
Now, do the Jets, Dolphins, and Cardinals.Â
All the places you say will be more desirable for an offensive-minded HC.Â
to answer that, answer me this....
Or, just answer the question.Â
While Bucs have more talent than those teams, they also had more talent than the Raiders, alas, having #1 overall pick or top pick for QB prospect for an offensive mind would take the cake....i.e Kubiak choosing Raiders, Coen choosing Lawrence over Mayfield, etcÂ
The reasons top OC candidate might nit come here is the Glazers and the way they manage the cash. Compare to Jeff Lurie etcÂ

I didn’t realize their was a HC vacancy in Tampa this offseason for Kubiak or Coen to decide on.Â
Interesting…

Interesting indeed!Â
While we will never know who Kubiak was interested in versus who was interested in him, the best we can do is speculate
so he interviewed with the Raiders, Cardinals, Falcons, Ravens, Dolphins, and Giants.Â
he conducted all those interviews around Jan 9th and 10th, and teams ultimately chose their new coaches January 17th through Feb 1st
Why do you think he chose the Raiders?
For Coen, i speculate it was two offers
1 - Jaguars head coaching gig (which you dont turn down a gig once you get it)
2 - highest paid coordinator in league with likely a "promise" to be head coach in 2026
i threw the Coen choosing Lawrence over Baker in there like i do Evans choosing Purdy over Baker; just for shits and giggles.
my point remains around Kubiak. If the top candidate in 2027 gets to choose between his top QB prospect team or Baker Mayfield Bucs, particularly the Bucs that are losing double digit games, you aren't being honest with yourself if you can't easily speculate that we will lose out on that candidate.Â
Even JP sees it (the pathetic o-line), as referenced in his article...and he's a lot closer to the "action" than any of us are.

The Bengals don't have this problem. Look at their HC.
Need in fixing OL big time please!
Need in fixing OL big time please!
Licht should be shown walking papers if that's the case
LT Tristan Wirfs - 1st round pick, 2020
LG Ben Bredeson - free agent pick -up
C Graham Barton - 1st round pick, 2024
RG Cody Mauch - 2nd round pick, 2023
RT Luke Goedeke - 2nd round pick, 2022
i mean, alot invested there, perhaps a hgih round pick for a guard next year but not sure what else they can change sans coaching staff

Licht has tried to build the line he just failed hire someone that could develop them.
Barton is a mess
Mauch is a mess
Goedeke is ok but regressed
Breadson was a terrible signingÂ
Didn't go after Humphrey when we ran it backÂ
Didn't prioritize the future after Brady handed him a super bowl
Signed players to bloated extensions that cannot match the production needed to justify it.
He's built a roster with no clear direction... Spray and pray
good lord, no please Baker take your time.
it's one thing for us to lose games with a rookie getting experience, but no need for you to "play injured" and we get the performance of what you had last year
Take some time to watch the games on the sideline and at 0-6 when we are "2 games out and no one is coming to save us", you can think about making a runÂ
Per ESPN QBR rankings for Baker Mayfield:
2022Â #28
2023Â #18
2024Â #13
2025Â Â #12
So far in 2026Â Â #28.

and i'd garner if you split 2025 into first 8 and last 9; Baker likely a top 6 quarterback given his play in the first 6 games.....likely ranking closer to the mid 20s in the back half hence the 12 rating overall. Why is that relevant? Well clear as day as you've seen this year. His play in 2023 and 2024 was more even keeled, likely similar ranking give or take a few spots in both halves. Â
and the concern as i've been preaching all off-season is that it was the most recent play which sucked and was my concern as it could carry over to this year and thus far in the 3 game sample size, actually managed to be worse!Â
Hopefully he recovers from injury and he can make a run to show he's 23 guy (throw 2024 out...that clearly aint happening this year anyway)...otherwise....do you not bring in a quarterback to compete with him? Â
