He still had 11.5 sacks last year . He's going to command at least 5 million a year ...it just may be a short contract . Like 2-3 years.
I don't see Allen getting more than $5 mil per year.
Depends on how the market goes this year. Are we gonna see a continuation of last years very flat market where a small handful of guys get (over) paid and the rest are fighting over table scraps? Then again if we are out the tossing cash about that take a big chunk out of the over payers market.

It will be short, it will be more than $5m as well. It will just be short of guaranteed money. You figure that he may turn down some bigger offers that are all non-guaranteed to get some real cash. You also wonder how much of a ring chaser he will be at this point.

So would you not want him if the deal looks something like 3 years/$15 million with $10 mil guaranteed for years 1 and 2? Personally, I would jump all over that deal.

Hell yes I would.

It would cost more than that to get him here. If that is all he is going to get he'll probably end up in Seattle, Chicago, or Atlanta, a team with an established QB who is easier to predict contending for a Superbowl.

It might...it might not. Most of the teams with "established QB's" are very tight with their cap space due to the amounts they are paying their QBs. Just look at last year, how long did it take for Freeney and Abraham to get deals less than that? The current trend is to go young with your deals and that leaves some of the older vets available.
Freeney and Abraham didn't get signed because they had missed a ton of time in recent years and teams saw them as washed up. Allen doesn't fit into that category. Peppers is going to get released, is in more of that situation, and may well be more likely than Allen to end up here because of it.

Abraham was coming off a 10 sack season. I wish we could get some of our guys to be washed up like that.
Abraham was 35, Allen is 32... and Jared Allen is a three down player! The Broncos, Falcons, Titans and Patriots have all shown interest at various points for Abraham during the offseason and were interested in him as a third-down pass-rusher/rotational role...Abraham request was to be on the field for 60 percent of the snaps this season and his asking price was too high for those teams... The money Dwight Freeney got from the Chargers didn't help things.he signed two month later(July) in Arizona for $3M per year!
IMO - Allen should be the only FA target... and then some role players. (Redo some kicker deals)That would make our FA this offseason.
Jared Allen made $14.2 million last season, a season in which he started and played all 16 games, had 50+ tackles 11.5 sacks........he's not taking a decrease in salary all the way down to $5 million just because of his age. That's ridiculous. At minimum he gets $10 million a year. At minimum.

I'm not saying it will be $5 mil...but I would be willing to bet a large sum of money it wont be $10+ mil.
Dan Hanzus ?@DanHanzus 3mGreg Hardy on how Panthers can take next step: "Give me a phone call and offer me a crapload of money. That's all. Nothing too serious."

Jared Allen will get what the market dictates. Cliff Avril was accomplished and younger and hardly signed for much more than Michael Bennett did.
