Whatever it takes. Dude can play this game. He will sell tickets. Fact on that.Have high hopes for JFF.
He needs a mentor like Mark Brunell.
I like Johnny as a player. I worry about trading that much, or even picking him where we are, considering his size and he has already had to play through a full year with a shoulder problem. Take into consideration that while he is adjusting to the NFL he will likely take some gruesome hits, and he turns into an even bigger risk. Not saying I would be opposed to JFF, but Watkins is a much safer pick. But like most safe options the reward isn't as potentially great.
I would love Watkins, if Oakland doesn't take him. Which I think is a very viable option. I think Watkins is their top target, personally. If he falls to us and Bridge, Manziel, and Clowney are gone and I fully expect them to be, drafting Watkins would be a lovely contingent. Watkins, Barr, and even Mack would make me happy at #7.
Yeah, the Raiders are definitely the biggest threat to take him. Unless maybe they don't, and Atlanta lets someone trade up and snatch him from us.

Please don't f*ck this up Oakland!
Its really hard to have long, multiplay drives. Having an explosive weapon like Sammy would make things a lot easier for any QB we have. And, if we make the playoffs, big plays win games there. And he's a big play WR.

Its that simple. PS Trading up for Manzel would be ridiculous, he is no Luck
Sammy Watkins will declare for the 2014 NFL Draft per rotoworld. Martavis Bryant (WR) will also declare.
I've said it over and over. Forget need. Just look at talent. I'm more confident Watkins can be a stud for the next ten years than any other player.
I think he's both one of the safest picks in the draft while also being one of the players with the highest ceilings
...of all things using the term safest with any WR pick is crazy. No position crashes and burns like these guys. The funny thing is in the Evans thread we will be unstoppable because our WRs are tall, here we will be unstoppable because he is fast. Are WRs just "easier" toLike than other spots because it seems every year a large crowd is always about drafting the latest hotness at WR.
I can't speak for everyone else over the years, but for me and Watkins, it's simply that he's been a stud his entire life. He was a 5-star prep recruit and looked like an NFL player the second he stepped onto the field as a true freshman. In the last however many years, there's only been three wide receivers like that - Calvin Johnson, AJ Green, and Julio Jones. Now Watkins may be #4 out of that group, but he's a million times more accomplished than your Michael Crabtrees, Darrius Heyward-Beys, and even Hakeem Nicks. Watkins is a different breed.
He could also help in the return game. If Clowney and Matthews are gone I am all for taking Watkins.
With all of the Juniors declaring for the draft, this is an extremely deep draft at WR. I love Sammy but there will be very good receivers available into the 4th round. I dont think OT or DE is anywhere near as deep. Look at all of the quality receivers in the games this week that weren't 1st round picks:Jordy NelsonRandall CobbAnquan BoldinKeenan AllenMarquis ColstonDesean JacksonRiley CooperTY HiltonThe lists goes on. Heck, the highest taken receiver of Wild Card weekend was AJ Green and he has like 3 catches for 23 yards and was taken out of the game.I would not be upset if we take Sammy but I would rather take a blue chip lineman or QB or trade back and grab a TE or WR and get our 3rd round considering how deep the receiver position will be

Completely agree. I think he is the safest prospect in the draft to be a high level NFL starter. Sammy doesn't have the height of those other receivers you mentioned. He does look bigger on the field then he's listed. He is right there with Clowney and Barr for who I'd like to see the Bucs get (after JFF and Teddy) @7 right now. I have little doubt he would step in from day 1 and be an impact offensive player. He is not some Justin Blackmon "best of a bad class" top receiver, he's legit top 5 talent imo.
What do you guys think of Mike Evans as an early pick now that he's declared for the draft?

we have two WR like him. Don't need a 3rd.
