McCoy Needed The Hand Injury This Year to Mask His Ego Injury Dec 18, 2015
So, did the hand injury need McCoy or did McCoy need the hand injury this year? I say it's the latter. I could be wrong, but too much evidence points to it. All year McCoy failed to make the impact you'd expect from a team captain, self-proclaimed leader on a $100 million contract.The most recent evidence is the disappearing act he played in the last two games and this video that shows him completely disengaged from the team. McCoy Outside Team Huddle The word is that he was having his hand tended to and that he was saying a prayer... making him tardy to the huddle. As team captain he couldn't find a better time to do those things?Ok, well, we'll give him a pass but... where's the video of him rallying the defensive troops? Where's the video of him getting in Keenum's face like Donald did to Winston? Seems to me that his injury is an awfully convenient reason to not even be a proper teammate, much less a leader. And that's been the story on McCoy all season! Josh Freeman was benched for a lot less evidence than McCoy has provided this year.McCoy had a stretch of 3-4 games where he got just as many penalties as he did tackles. His sacks? Well, none of his good games this year made the kind of impact Donald had on last night's game to say the least. But all year, Winston had to make up for the insane amount of points McCoy's defense was giving up.So let's blame it on the secondary. Yeah ok. They weren't dependable at all. However, when they did do their job, how many of McCoy's sacks and QB pressures were a result of decent coverage. It did happen.Face it McCoy. You needed the hand injury this year because EGO INJURY just isn't on the list of approved injuries for time off on games, plays and long stretches of the season.The hand injury excuse just doesn't fly. Many wanna excuse this as a reason, but it isn't. Not for a player like McCoy. If the injury was legit, you needed to be a team leader by sitting out games.Just about a week ago, McCoy self-proclaimed that the team doctors should NOT keep him from playing. In contrast, team doctors kept ASJ out for a long stretch while he pranced and frolicked around on the sidelines. ASJ wanted to blame team doctors too. Again, if injury was as big a factor as many believe, just. sit. out.Do me and every Buc fan a favor for next year, Mr McCoy. Don't stuff the stat sheet with a bunch of meaningless stats that have virtually no impact on the game. It's not good for you, for us, for the team or for the sport. Fix your ego over the offseason and show up ready to play football like the real McCoy should. Fix your ego over the fact that you're a great example of a good human being but not a good example or leader of a great football player.Too bad there's not a PUP list for mentally weak players. McCoy would've been on it this year.link
