I will say, I do find it interesting that any WR rated higher than Egbuka coming out of college this past season.  I don’t know that Egbuka is going to have Moss type impact but man, his stats are just mind boggling.

The following is a percentage breakdown for particular routes run followed by a list of success by route.

Routes by percentage ran in 2024:

Nine - 9

Post - 8.6

Dig - 18.1

Curl - 9.5

Slant - 19

Screen - 5.2

Corner - 5.2

Out - 6.7

Comeback - 1.9

Flat - 11

Other 5.7

Success by routes ran in 2024

Nine - 47.4

Post - 66.7

Dig - 73.7

Curl - 75

Slant - 87.5

Screen - 100

Corner-  63.6

Out - 78.6

Comeback - 100

Flat - 82.6

Other - 83.3

He has it all in his arsenal which is basically what Baker said in his much quoted quote.

This offense should be a steady march to the end zone every damn week.

Should be a great fit, and an offensive #1 pick should contribute a lot, and Egbuka has ALWAYS been integral to Buckeye offenses as long as he was apart of them - but I’m tempering my enthusiasm until I see him on the field, in this offense.

I’m sure his talent and work ethic will distinguish him, we’ll need it.

I'm waiting to see how this goes once the ball is snapped in regular season.

Cool.

Now do the same breakdown for your boy Jalen "Lead the Team in Receiving Yards" McMillan.

@Donkey_Hunter - you should have watched Jalen play last year, you’d have a better understanding as to why Baker is so bullish on him. It’s weird…

I did.

So, as I said before, it shouldn’t be an issue for you to provide the same stats you just did with Egbuka.

Interested to see your post on this and the comparison between the two.

We didn't draft egbuka because McMillan isn't good enough. We got him because we need depth at the wr position if Mike or Chris go down. Still need elite plays from that position if one of them go down. And still need great production from the 3rd guy too. Which would drop if either one gets hurt.

Agreed.  My point is, where someone is drafted matters way less than how they perform.  It's why 3rd round pick Rachaad White is playing behind 4th round pick Bucky Irving.

Anyone with eyes watching the Bucs last season knows what we have in McMillan.  Baker loves him.

Yes he's a stud as well. I keep saying it but the potential is there to have a possible record breaking year or close to our best. It's not as good but if we get great production from our 4 wrs and our team is a threat like culp is sounding like an option as well. We could have close to what we had when we had AB and Gronk playing with us. At least closest potential to that even though I understand those two are in a totally different world. It would just be closest potential wise we could see for years. Bucky and white are solid as you will get in the league too for a backfield.

even for most elite WRs, their rookie year is usually a mixed bag, so I'm not expecting 1,000yds/10 TDs etc.  600-700yds maybe 7-8 TDs sounds reasonable.

but that success% is probably making Baker and Grizz drool.  Especially: POST, DIG, CURL, SLANT, OUT, and COMEBACK.  Basically all the seam routes.  Seems like it's just going to be a question of how long it will take Egbuka to actually get comfortable in this NFL offense.  Hope he's as smart as advertised, if not smarter.

I don't think it'll take long.

And, as I've been saying for months, if Godwin lands on the PUP; Egbuka is going to get some serious looks in this offense.

Wouldn't be surprised if he and Mike are neck and neck in target distribution over the first few months.

it would be a really nice problem to have.  i'm just being cautious because it took JMac as long as it did for him to get comfortable before showing out.  As a sidenote, it took X. Worthy about the same length of time to find his comfort zone in KC.

The offense has a lot of moving parts, no pun intended, though the fact that there's so much movement in this offense is just one of the things he's going to have to get used to.  But it's also the fact that he's going to have to get to where all the cans/choices/alert plays become second nature.  That seemed to take JMac about half the season to get used to.  So, I'm allowing for the idea that it might take Egbuka some time in those regards as well.

Egbuka is a better prospect coming out than either JMac or Worthy.

Kid has a high football IQ.

I'm confident that he'll pick up the system quickly.

I get it.  And I hope you're right and I'm wrong.  Just saying, historically in the NFL, rookie WRs are a mixed bag, even the great ones.  I'm just not going to start throwing things at the TV if Egbuka doesn't immediately come out guns blazing from Week 1.  Anyway, it's not like we desperately need him to be elite right off the bat.  We can allow him to grow into the offense over the course of the season, considering all the talent we have at the position right now.

If Godwin lands on the PUP, then we'll need him to be pretty damn good out of the gate.

And, luckily for us, he will be.

When the WR is fully healthy? Ooh boy.

WR1 - Evans

WR2 - Godwin

WR3 - Egbuka

WR4 - JMac

That's just downright nasty.
