@detrimental I agree. Bowles is a place holder similar to Lovie Smith in Houston. Not necessarily a tank season, but bad enough to get a high draft pick. Clean house after the 2023 season and bring in competent coaches. Let expensive veteran players go and build through the draft and FA.
The 2023 season will be painful to watch for Bucs fans.
Bowles absolutely has to go. We need to move on from his Brady honeymoon and start looking into the future. Bringing in a new OC is the only thing that's going to safe Bowles time. But he should go and so should our desire for Brady. Give me a QB that can move around in the damn pocket
Only way I see Bowles going if Brady tells ownership only way I come back here is if you get Sean Payton
Given Brian Flores lawsuit and the Bucs being one of the most inclusive organizations out there, do you really think they will fire Bowles after 1 season in which they made the playoffs?
they certainly won’t for a coach that won’t move the needle so unless Brady does his magic with Payton, that’s the only way I see them doing it and the world would understand and only a small percentage would claim racism, unjustified, etc
The Bucs letting Bowles go now would fly in the face of Arian's transition plan because Bowles took the current job late because of Brady/Arians
But, the OVERWHELMING REASON we were as bad as we were this year offensively was due to Byron’s ineptitude as a play caller and offensive coordinator.
Im not even sure how it’s an argument at this point.
This may be right.
Lolz
Completely clueless.
Buggsy you need to do something about your tiny penis syndrome. Considered an implant?
Anyone who doesn't hold Lefty accountable for the Bucs offensive woes this season is an ignorant idiot.
Lefty was riding Arians coattails with mega talent. Once that talent got watered down, Lefty was totally exposed. It's no wonder that Arians was reviewing the game plans and red markering them so they would work. Lefty needs to return to his AZ golf club and get out of football.
JUST A FEW REPORTTED ITEMS TO CONSIDER:
In his closing new conference and then on his radio show Bowles said:
"“Those who come back, we gotta create new culture, new chemistry and new camaraderie,” Bowles said. “We’ll have new people coming in, if you’re lucky enough to come back or privileged enough to come back, be ready to work.”
After the 49ers debacle it was reported by Mike Silver that Brady was secretly changing game plans on Leftwich and Bowles
Leftwich responded to that report like this: "Me and Tom meet every day. Me and Tom meet every day about the plays, about what’s going on."
Boweles was criticized during the season for clock management (wanting to run out the clock before halftime) against the Browns. if you recall the series we were backed up ran for nothing and so Bowles was going to let the clock run out. However, Brady threw the ball long. This was Bowles:
"It could have been an interception as well. We said if we didn’t get yardage on the first play, we wouldn’t call a timeout. We would probably let the clock run. If (Brady) saw something, he could throw it, but we didn’t get any yards on the first play,” Bowles said, per Pewter Report.
“We got one or two yards and we were backed up. If we would have thrown a pick, the ball could’ve gone the other way and they could have kicked the winning field goal. We felt better going into overtime.”
POINT: more to the Bucs failures than offensive play calling. DYSFUNCTION all around
Bowles was basically a lame duck coach using Arians staff. One of the Arians coaches openly said the Bucs need to run more. Brady obviously had too much power to just sit idly by running an offense he did not approve of. His defense and Leftwich defense to the Silver report was that they always met together, game planned together. Arians clearly felt the need to defend Leftwich by basically blaming Bowles (his own guy) or Brady (" The first half was the first time I’ve seen this year when Byron said, ‘Screw it, I’m going back to being me.’)
DYSFUNCTION all around
Did the Bowles defense look prepared against the Cowboys?
They got dragged full length of the field 3 times for TDs
Good grief, it wasn't a gotcha moment, its was IRONY.
OK.
The point is ANYONE can generically argue something like "we need more PA,"
It's not generic when they are literally giving you FACTS/DATA/METRICS/NUMEROUS EXAMPLES
but PA is mostly driven by the CIRCUMSTANCES
Lol. Sure.
but less so if you are looking at the actual plays because the Bucs are often behind, playing catch up etc.
Essentially, what you're saying is that either:
- Play Action is circumstantial and only effective when playing from behind
- The BUCS Play Action success this season was circumstantial and only effective when playing from behind
Either way, please provide facts/stats/metrics to back that up.
More importantly though . . if you think we lose like that to Dallas because we didn't run enough PA , as opposed to our own defense being dragged down the field for 60,70 and 80 yard TDs . . then you're just arguing tio argue your own thoughts about Leftwich, not about the REALITY on the field. The "we need more PA" argument as a response to the the Dallas game is sort of like suggesting Bowles should have fired Leftwich mid-season because many OCs would get 25+ points out of this offense. Its a JC5100-eseque argument (ie interesting maybe, but totally disconnected from reality)
I never said that we lost to Dallas because we didn't run enough play action.
I'm simply arguing with you (and the rest of the Byron defenders) that Lefty was the biggest reason for this season's woes...and it's not even close.
Speaking of Dallas absolutely shredding us after a being completely ineffective their first few drives...
...did you notice how INSANELY WIDE OPEN their pass catchers were the entirety of the game from that point?
Did you notice how they utilized multiple different route combos, picks, meshes, etc. that just happened to scheme less skilled offensive players than ours, with nobody within 6-10 yards of them?
It's almost as if...checks notes...they had an OC who could actually...you know...coordinate the offense. So weird, right?
I mean, it's a far cry from Byron's arsenal of plays which consist of:
- Run Lenny up the LG and Center's ass
- Fly route to Evans
- Run Lenny up the LG's ass exclusively
- Screen pass to Godwin
- Run Lenny up the C's ass exclusively
- Wash, Rinse, Repeat
There's a big part of me hoping that they don't fire Bowles or Lefty.
I actually hope they keep both of them, and that we roll with Trask.
Let's see how many wins that produces. Because had it been this year, you're looking at 2-3 (maybe 4 if we're lucky). Gabbert? Maybe 3-5.
People that don’t even watch football could tell you what the first play of a drive would be with 2022 Bucs….how do you think opposing defenses felt
So started 85% of our drives with a 2nd and 12. Yeah. Leftwich won’t be an offensive coordinator anywhere with the creativity he out on tape this year.
maybe an assistant QB coach or some shit
Leftwich was exposed this season.
DH - the statistical correlation for PA is threat of run so obviously the circumstances matter. Running a PA pass on 3rd and 24 down 3 scores may work but STATISTICALLY it should be less effective than 2 and 3 with the lead.
Statistically speaking the Bucs of this season were in less optimal PA circumstances than most teams. That doesn’t mean a specific PA play would fail. It means there is a more complete (and sensual) explanation than “he just doesn’t like it”. Lmao
TO THAT POINT: how effective was the fake handoff on the pick in the end zone? Did the linebackers come up, safety freeze… to get Godwin open? Lol
the Cowboys drive down 3 times early because Dak had so much time. And they could run. That’s a winning combo. Ask your boy Buggsy. I could hear him counting the second 1…. Derp… 3… dammit 2… um… 3
Haha. Great autocorrect

I agree. The offense was terrible. That 100% falls on OC because that’s his job. I am just saying you don’t have to be a “rocket surgeon” to see that the team had multiple problems, including what appears to be a lot of internal conflict. Pretty easy to anticipate when you have a new HC with the old HC’s staff and key players retiring and a GOAT at QB and things go south.
I am just interested to see it play out, to try to figure out where they go from here. Brady? Bowles? Etc. it’s not as simple as replacing an OC. We were NOT a 12-5 team dragged down by an OC to 8-9 lol. Proof of that is the ASS WHIPPING our DEFENSE took against the Cowboys
Has the Offensive Line Coach been fired yet? Has the strength and conditioning coach been fired yet?
They should have been shown the door right after Lefty.
