I just don't understand what they hoped to achieve with the call. Starting at the 30 instead of the 20? That's probably the best reasonable expectation from that play.

That's a real good point. Gives the guy getting the pitch some room to adjust to the ball. A handoff doesn't. And watching the replay, the handoff was more into Shepard's ribs than his belly, which no doubt contributed to the fumble... I'd say it was on Page...

That's the way the scoring works. Since Shepard never had full possession of the ball, the fumble goes to the last player that did. It was still on Shepard, though.

And it's the responsibility of the player handing it off to get it HANDED OFF successfully. Replay showed the ball more on Shepard's ribs than his belly... And I like Page, but that play looked like it was on him...

That said, Page sucks. He makes one idiot play every game and can be seen getting a talkin too by Schiano on the sideline. Dude adds nothing to the roster but Schiano obviously has a hard on for him.
This makes no sense. Schiano chews him out every game, but has a hard-on for him? If he could replace him with someone equally mediocre but less error-prone he probably would have by now.

There was 4:27 left in a game where we had very limited offensive success. They were trying to win, not make the score close. Isn't this what we're complaining about when they're conservative?

I agree.A bigger indictment against the staff is the game's worth of terrible offense, or continuing to put Barron in tight trailing coverage against Vernon Davis, not a desperation trick play in the final 5 minutes.
post game schiano said it was a called play....if it was there however as u can see it wasnt there and he should have not gone out of the end zone. the guy made a mistake and there is obvious reasons and issues he wont go into. but it was a called play none the less. pages interpretation was not the right one
