Recently, Skip Bayless used the First Take platform to cast aspersions on Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel. While that’s hardly an unusual thing for folks in the media (Manziel has become a fairly easy target), Bayless took it to the next level by calling Manziel an “alcoholic.”According to Richard Deitsch of SI.com, ESPN has no problem with that.“When discussing the widely reported public behavior, Skip based his comments on information he has from sources within and around the Browns’ organization with knowledge of Manziel’s continued pattern of behavior, as well as Skip’s personal family experiences with alcoholism,” an ESPN spokesperson told Deitsch. So, basically, Bayless isn’t simply opining that Manziel is an alcoholic. Bayless, according to that statement, is potentially reporting that Manziel is an alcoholic. If Manziel actually isn’t an alcoholic, maybe his lawyer will have the next comment on this specific topic.
