I have a hard time caring about the number he gets. I can’t imagine this team without Mike
This is the challenge.
He has a VALUE to the team that transcends his pure contribution on the field BUT its also true that the Bucs have a tough cap situation. I think Licht said they would have to "stretch."
When you add to that a career(ish) year last year . .. .
Per Jordan Schultz:
Just spoke with Mike Evans’ agent, @DerykGilmore, who says: “Mike wants to play with an elite quarterback in an offense that will showcase him — and be paid like a top wide receiver. He doesn’t want to play with a rookie QB. Winning a Super Bowl is a key priority.”
While I’m sure it’s just agent talk, the 2 lines in bold stick out because we don’t have either.
KC would now easily be the biggest threat.
My guess is Chris Jones has to be KC’s priority, right? Their cap space is pretty tight. My guess is CJ is looks pretty elite, also. There is more than one option, so Mike DEFINITELY controls this.Per Jordan Schultz:

intersting
I noticed this part . . . "in an offense that will showcase him."
That was a point I was making earlier as an advantage for the Bucs, so IF FOR THE SAKE OF ARGUMENT you take the statement at face value (not just agent talk) then yes it could come down to whether he thinks Mayfield is "elite" and the Bucs having a real chance at a SB. The Bucs cant compete with Mahomes and Chiefs on both of those measures though lol.
Will be interesting to look back on this comment AFTER its played out
Mike Evans wishlist is an “elite qb on a contender”
is that us? Bummer.

in an offense that features him (he just led in TDs) and that pays him like a top WR
getting interesting!!

Agreed that we have that part working for us (referring to the offense showcasing him).
Is Baker elite? Of course not (much to the chagrin of a few dipshits on here).
Super Bowl? Lol. No.
Chiefs check all the boxes. But, they didn’t pony up for Hill and have won 2 SB’s since they parted ways. Plus, they have Jones and Sneed to worry about.
But, they also have a chance at history with a 3-peat and Evans instantly makes that offense better.
Again, I think he ultimately re-signs with us.
INDIANAPOLIS -- Multiple #NFL sources anticipate an outstanding market for #Buccaneers star wide receiver Mike Evans.
And the #Texans, who have good, young wide receivers Nico Collins and Tank Dell, are not expected to pursue Evans during free agency.

Have heard a similar debate about Evans relevance to KC. A lot of teams will want him, but not all of them fit Mike’s criteria of cash, elite QB, able to play for a Super Bowl.INDIANAPOLIS -- Multiple #NFL sources anticipate an outstanding market for #Buccaneers star wide receiver Mike Evans.

Well, we only check one of those boxes.
Cash is king though.

Kansas City thinks this is precious.
the only hope we have here is they don’t pony up the cash
they seem to have some needs, and unless they leave one of their precious FA’s out, limited cash.…just like everyone else.A lot of teams will want him, but not all of them fit Mike’s criteria of cash, elite QB, able to play for a Super Bowl.

Given they let hill go and ended up winning 2 Super Bowl as opposed to not the 2 years prior, one would think they’d found the winning formula that doesn’t involve paying a guy $25-$30M and that pieces like sneed and jones are more important particularly with Mahomes still in his prime
evans likely gets max an offer of $20M there and Mike would just have to decide adding more rings and potentially being in the NFL spotlight (Mahomes, kelce, Taylor swift) be good for his brand post NFL versus continuing the legacy in Tampa potentially playing for one team whole career and at $4-$8M per year higher. I say I’d like our odds but there’s still a chance he opps for the Chiefs discount
