not because he is not talented but more so a victim of the depth chart.

I am excited to see JMac, especially after the recent reporting on him.

The point you're making though was sort of the same point SR made and that is that the Bucs don't rank receivers as much as they fill specific roles.

SR reported that at least as far as last year goes the Bucs didn't see JMac as a WR who can fill the Evans role or the Godwin role. Not enough long speed for the Evans role and couldn't handle the Godwin's role last season because of not being physical enough to handle the interior work and the blocking. So, without some change/improvement he was getting squeezed out of those two roles. Now there is a 1st rounder who supposedly plays all three.  That says there is a chance his snaps go down (without improvement over last season )

He excelled in the 3rd role though, so that should mean, at a minimum, he's the most likely to fill that role this season if/when Godwin is out. But, when Godwin is back does Egbuka slide into his role?  Maybe not entirely because Egbuka supposedly can play the other roles too, so maybe his snaps are still up there between the time he gets if/when Godwin is out or even because Egbuka plays other roles. Hard to say.

And who is to say he hasn't improved or the offense isn't a little different in his favor?  He's definitely talented.  We all saw that.

Great problems for the Bucs to have. Last year there were questions about JMac's commitment and professionalism. This year the early reporting is the opposite. The benefit of COMPETITION.

Cant wait to see it play out.

Listen, the Bucs will do whatever makes them win.

Evans and Godwin will get the snaps due to seniority.  Emeka will get the snaps due to draft status (unless he flat out bust in training camp, but from what you read about the guy, that is unlikely)

so Jalen starts the season buried likely seeing the Scotty Miller, Tyler Johnson, Trey Palmer type snaps.

Speaking of great examples of 'buried on depth chart'

Trey Palmer had 68 targets, 39 catches for 385 yards and TDs in his rookie year.  Had 3 catches for 88 yards and a TD in the playoffs back in 2023. I imagine many that offseason thought that Palmer had a future with this team.  Be Honest now!  we all did.

Fast forward to 2024 season where he had 22 targets, 12 catches for 172 yards and a touchdown. What the heck happened?  Well, Jalen McMillan was drafted and then Sterling Sheppard was signed and Palmer just was an afterthought.

Let's look at Scotty Miller in 2020 season.  He had some of the most memorable TDs that season.

Scottie had 53 targets with 33 receptions and 501 yards that year with 3 TDs.  In the games prior to AB suiting up, Scottie had 37 of those targets with 25 catches and 400 of yards.  He, you guessed it, became an afterthought once AB joined the team.  He still had that memorable Greenbay playoff touchdown right before half but alas, his numbers went down.

and i realize these guys were 6th round picks, so it's a bit of apples and bowling balls in that regard but still the point of only 1 ball to go around is valid

if Emeka is who we think he is, Evans and Godwin are healthy, then i dont see a situation where he sees alot of targets.  Great to have the depth when Evans or Godwin are tired on a drive, but still, i'd likely garner his numbers will be down from 2024.

The question becomes, if Evans plays at a high level this year, say he resigns for a 2 year deal; Godwin comes back healthy and in typical form, and then you have Emeka...does Jalen become a trade candidate in the off-season particularly if he isn't utilized.

again, maybe i am high...but i just dont see it.  unless we start running 4 WR sets a majority of the time of course.

Let me know when you want to put your money where your mouth is.

It's pretty simple.  McMillan lit up training camp last year, came in and grew and isn't even sort of comprable to Palmer or Miller, LOL.

Name the bet. He finishes in the top 2 in receptions this year.  Debate your mom...

sure.  what's a friendly bet?  $100?  $500? Even money fair enough to you?

and to even be fair to you..you mean top 2 receptions for WRs only right?  So will throw out the guys that had more then him last year in Otton, White, and Bucky.

the bet is that you believe of all the WRs on the Bucs, McMillan will finish in the top 2 (including Evans, Godwin, and Emeka)

how do we enforce this bet?  I am located in NJ where sports betting is legal.  not sure how it works in Florida.
