Lost the battle last night. Shocked how poorly the offense played with the lions beat up & suspended secondary.
we contained hutch pretty well too.
hope Mike is back. Need McMillan back too.
Bucky still a month or more away as well.
hopefully Goedeke is back.
why the hell would we be pushing him like that.
I blame Bowles!
Joking aside we decided to throw it to him deep a bunch coming off the hammy...
Grizz really wanted that deep ball all game
yeah exactly my point. obviously hindsight is a beautiful thing but talking about rushing a guy back.
How are we talking about rushing Evans back? He was moving well out there. He broke his fucking collarbone not re injure his hamstring.
why the hell would we be pushing him like that.

Sing it now . . .the hamstring is connected to the . . . . clavicle . . the clavicle is connected to the head bone
for all we know his hammy was fine (to him) last week and they held him out. Not sure his injuries related to rushing him back, but if they do . . I blame Bowles!
Injuries have really hit us so hard. ****ing sad man.
but talking about rushing a guy back.
From an undisclosed clavicle injury he was dealing with?
Or, did he tear his hurt hammy last night?
I blame Bowles!
Him coming back isn't the issue. How we used him is... The injury aside (and yes it happened because he's running 40 yards down field on a contested ball over and over) the route tree isn't how he should have been used. Grizz should have used him like a big target TE across the middle to combat the aggressive pass rush.
Grizz is an absolute moron for this monstrosity of a game.

They just aren't getting it. Mike is older, past his prime and returning from injury; just thought we could have connected on some high % throws first
Have the guy trying to make plays like he's 22 and this is the result.
again, can't predict injuries
Mike has looked cooked this year anyway, hope he can come back for playoffs, that would be awesome.

Yes, a moron for relying on Mayfield to complete any one of several passes in the end zone. :-)
Kidding and I definitely get your overall point, just to make that clear.
I think some of that is over the top though. Its sort of the 2025 version of blaming Mayfield for Canales offense, just in reverse. This year's "sequencing" is 2023 Mayfield "player running open everywhere." The TRUTH is always somewhere in between.
The Bucs have an injured Egbuka and Otton and Tez to play underneath, so they are absolutely going to use Evans to stretch. I think the first pass to Evans is 15 yards. The second is 23 yards and its draws a flag. They are ABSOLUTELY going to Evans on that play because it is single high safety and MAN on Evans with a 5-11 journeyman CB on him.
So, I get the point, but I doubt that second play is even a Grizz call as much as its probably a Mayfield check.
Anyway, Grizz's job is to get plays out there that give players a chance to win. He did that multiple times only to have Mayfield completely miss. Sometimes its ON THE PLAYERS. There defensive front manhandled our O-line most of the game and Mayfield threw bad ball after bad ball.
And because their defensive front is killing ours, Grizz is OFTEN calling the plays with a hand tied behind his back. Just go watch the LAST 4th down play. Game is on the line. we need a good completion or a TD. I think we only have 3 out in the route though because Otton and White stay in to help Heck. Think about that. We have to keep three guys IN down tight like that just to get a pass off.
On this Evans injury, its definitely unfortunate but it is because of the way he lands. Its a great call at the RIGHT TIME (for the sequencing crowd) and great execution. A great play all around EXCEPT for the end.
On the play Evans does EXACTLY what he does, which is to beat Ya-Sin deep. He wins the route and for once in this game Mayfield hits him. Its a great call and a great play by the players at a critical moment in the game.
If Evans pops right up and we are 1st and 10 at the 15 the game turns around and many are posting "finally Grizz throws the deep ball to Evans!!" or "I told ya we needed more PA passing."
The OC is N OT responsible for Evans injury. .. come on.
FWIW, if the Bucs have a receiver out there too soon its Egbuka. He was pretty clearly not himself.
But, at least he knows the offense . . unlike TEZ running into Evans and others lmao
I get your frustration, but this is a bit of a crazy take. Your preferred usage of a 12 year vet, coming back from an hammy injury that was deemed not as bad as first thought - is to send him on crossers and drags across the middle, against Detroit LB’s - in order to save him from…?I blame Bowles!

He caught BOTH chunk-play balls, one was a questionable call - the other he dropped because he broke his clavicle AND suffered a concussion when his head impacted the ground - but the hammy clearly didn’t limit his movement or his ability to leap for catches, and didn’t re-injure his hammy.
That’s his role. He makes deep, contested, catches because he is a freakish athlete. I hate that we lost him, and I hate that their defense killed our offense, but I can’t see how Grizz misused Evans. He was on the field because he thought he was ready, and until the new injuries - he looked ready.

Agreed.
You can 100% blame Grizz on calling a shitty game (and you’d be correct).
But, you can’t blame him for that injury.
It sucks like hell, but it was just one of those weird injuries.
Hope he's ok..I think it was not the most important game we needed so sitting Evans and egbuka would have been fine with me. I don't mind losing this game but I definitely don't want to lose Evans.
