Allow me to speculate as to how I see the top 8 picks going come May...1 Tenn - T Laremy Tunsil2 Cle - QB Jared Goff3 SD - DT A'Shawn Robinson4 Dal - S Jalen Ramsey5 Jax - DE Joey Bosa6 Bal - CB Vernon Hargreaves III7 SF - WR Laquon Treadwell8 Mia- CB Mackensie AlexanderBarring a trade up our top options would be... [by position]OT: Ronnie Stanley, Jack Conklin, Taylor Decker - Donovan is just fine going forward as our LT.. but will Dotson resign? can Pamphile start at RT? Ronnie Stanley is a great prospect. Had we rolled with Collins again last year and never drafted Donovan this would probably be a no-brainer pick. But considering the strides Smith made in his rookie year, one would conclude that the staff at One Buc is comfortable with year two of the Donovan Smith era at LT. Still an outside shot they draft Stanley and move Donovan either to RT or LG.. a move that could improve two positions along the line. Verdict: Pass.. The luxury of picking a RT in the top 10 is one that we can't afford when looking at other holes on the roster.G: Vadal Alexander, Cody Whitehair - I would be perfectly fine with drafting Vadal in the first round. That is, if we are picking between 25-31 and he represents the BPA.. but since that scenario only plays out in some alien galaxy far, far away.. you can see where this is going...Verdict: Pass, there are plenty of quality guards to be found later on in this draft, not to mention the possibility of signing Alex Boone or Kelechi Osemele in free agency.WR: Will Fuller, Corey Coleman, Michael Thomas - The WR position is always one of the most exciting to scout and speculate on this time of year. Unfortunately there aren't any top 10 guys this year and the best pure wideout, Treadwell is already off the board.. Fuller and Coleman represent just what the doctor ordered for our offense SPEED!! However, taking either at number 9 is a bit of a reach. Verdict: Solid Choice.. I would not be mad at all if we took either of these guys at number 9 but I feel like we can probably find a trading partner [maybe a team like the Rams wants to leap the Bears for QB Paxton Lynch] and still get one of these two along with an extra couple of picks.  RB: Zeke Elliot, Derrick Henry - I feel confident saying there are VERY few people in the bay area who want to see Doug Martin leave Tampa. I suspect that Koetter [who lobbied to keep him in 2015] and Licht both feel the same. In the off chance that Doug did leave, we could be in the market for a RB and either of these guys would make sense.. Let's just hope it doesn't come to that.Verdict: Pass. Doug Martin/Charles Sims are a great duo. Like the old adage goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it..TE: Hunter Henry, OJ Howard - ASJ has been a disappointment thus far, and no one would be shocked if he fails to ever live up to the hype he had coming out of Washington. In his defense, he has battled with injuries, but that doesn't excuse a lack of production. If you can't stay healthy you represent no value to your team. In no means am I saying we should cut or trade the guy, but it wouldn't hurt to think about adding another TE as security. Jameis I believe fares much better when he has a reliable target at the position. Cameron Brate has shown potential in the last couple of years, especially in 2015 but there's just not enough there to suggest he can play at a high enough level consistently... Just look at how much Cam Newton relies on Greg Olsen. Verdict: Pass.. There just aren't any great TE's in this draft. Hunter Henry doesn't strike me as a guy that will be nearly as good at the pro level. OJ Howard waited until his last game with Alabama to catch a TD pass. Granted it was in the championship game, and he had two.. but first round? number 9? LOL no thanks..OFFENSIVELY: If we stay put, OT Stanley is an outside possibility. WR's Coleman and Fuller are in play here but are they a reach? Imo if you feel either one can be a missing spark that completes the offense, which I do, you take your guy here. But considering both are available, and both are about equal as prospects, it makes sense to try and move down a few spots. But that's IF you stay at 9, and IF you draft offense...DE: Emmanuel Ogbah, Shaq Lawson, Shilique Calhoun, Noah Spence - DE is clearly a position of need. I feel good about Jack Smith and Will Gholston on the weakside, but we need a true #1 get-after-the-qb pass rusher. With Bosa gone, is there anyone available to fill that need? Many like Ogbah, and he's a popular projection to the Bucs early on among the top mock drafters.. I don't necessarily see it with Ogbah, I see a solid DE but nothing spectacular. He's worth a look if we trade back, but not at number 9. Again this is all in my personal opinion which I'm sure will clash with many others on the board. Shaq and Shilique are outside possibilities but definitely not at number 9. Noah Spence may be the best pass rusher in the draft, Bosa included.. but he's a gamble.. If he stays clean and all goes well in the coming months, he could be considered at number 9, and he would be the only DE, excluding Bosa, that I would take as early as number 9.Verdict: Trade down is the best route..... I just don't any of these guys representing BPA at number 9. Spence might be worth the pick but there are a lot of questions to be answered before I'm comfortable going there. At number 9 a team looks foolish if they don't come away with an impact player.. That's why unless Spence pans out, or unless we trade down, I pass at DE in round one. Swing heavy in free agency for Olivier Vernon or Cameron Wake if they cut him in favor of the younger DE.DT: Deforest Buckner, Andrew Billings, Robert Nkemdiche - DT was supposed to be a huge strength for us last year. Gerald was hurt. McDonald was hurt. Spence was hurt most of the year. Melton took some lumps and likely won't be back. That leaves McCoy, McDonald, McDaniels, and Spence... while this is adequate going into the season an upgrade next to McCoy wouldn't be the worst move possible. Look at Carolina with Lotulelei and Short... those guys dominate the middle of the trenches each snap. While our DT's behind McCoy are solid, they aren't game wreckers like Buckner or Nkemdiche could be.. Verdict: Tempting, but unlikely... While I like these guys more than I like Ogbah, Lawson, and Calhoun.. I don't know if this would be the best way to go. It's definitely a possibility.. imagine if we had drafted Aaron Donald.. that's the type of nightmare in the trenches I want us to have going into games next season. That said, I don't see it very likely we draft either of these guys at number 9.LB: Myles Jack, Jaylon Smith, Leonard Floyd, - Not gonna waste much finger strength typing on this.. LB is much too luxurious for us right now with David/Alexander/Lansanah all playing well at their positions. Yes we could use depth as well as competition at Sam. But not at number 9. And to those who think Leonard Floyd would be a candidate at DE.. no. Just no.......Verdict: PassCB: Kendall Fuller, Desmond King, Eli Apple - Pass defense has to be addressed early and often this offseason. In addition to a likely free agent signing I expect to take a DB early. I think Hargreaves would be the best pick for us at number 9, however he is off the board, and the guys available just don't scream number 9 overall.. Not saying it won't happen, just wouldn't expect it at number 9 unless Vernon/Mackensie are available.Verdict: Trade down for one of these guys if this is the direction you wanna roll in. One will be available at least ten picks down which provides versatility in fielding trade offers.S: S'ua Cravens, Darian Thompson, Jayron Kearse - As mentioned above, our pass defense needs work, I hope to see us make an effort to sign either Eric Weddle or Tashaun Gipson and draft another guy in the 2nd or 3rd round. I like Darian Thompson and Jayron Kearse but I believe they both could be available in round two.Verdict: Not at number 9.....DEFENSIVELY:  DE Noah Spence is a possibility, as our DTs Nkemdiche and Buckner, but as of right now none of these three are a likely pick at number 9. As for the secondary, there are solid prospects but none worthy of the number 9 pick, provider Ramsey, Hargreaves, and Alexander are gone...Best Bet:........ Trade down and take BPA along with the most, and highest draft picks you can get in return... If we can't reel in the big one, let's at least get enough mackeral to last us the winter.....
