Sports writer tells Colin Kaepernick to turn his hat around, act like a professionalJanuary 12, 2014 By Larry Brown    Fox SportsKap_Zps36A515D6.JpgI’ve never heard of Sal Maiorana, but it seems like he’s one of those old school journalists. How do we know that? The cranky fella complained after the San Francisco 49ers-Carolina Panthers game that Colin Kaepernick was wearing his hat backwards and not acting like a professional. Kaepernick. Always so media friendly. Turn your cap around and act like a professional quarterback.— Sal Maiorana (@salmaiorana) January 12, 2014When a follower compared Kaepernick to Philip Rivers, Maiorana brought out other quarterbacks who he thinks embody class. No, like Manning, Brees, Rodgers, his own contemporary Wilson. Class goes long way. RT @blzrul: @salmaiorana you mean like Hissyfit Rivers?— Sal Maiorana (@salmaiorana) January 12, 2014Because Aaron Rodgers has never worn a backwards hat while addressing the media:Kap1_Zps21B918E7.JpgAnd jeeze, look at all these other classless NFL quarterbacks:Kap2_Zps9F170846.JpgSI_DougFarrar @SI_DougFarrar The world is going straight to hell. RT @DLBScouting: 3:58 PM - 12 Jan 2014 The backlash, no surprise, was fast and furious, but Maiorana embraced the hate like a WWE heel. Its so much fun infuriating all of you. What a laugh riot watching my feed blow up. And I'm the angry one?— Sal Maiorana (@salmaiorana) January 12, 2014This is the second time we’ve gone through something like this where Kaepernick was criticized for his appearance. Last season there was the whole issue over Kaepernick’s tattoos after AOL’s David Whitley wrote a critical column.I don’t really feel like going through the entire exercise of defending Kaepernick, because there’s no point in getting so outraged over the opinion of a Buffalo Bills writer for the Democrat and Chronicle. But if you think Kaepernick is unprepared, a bad leader, or unprofessional just because he wears a backwards cap, it’s an extremely poor assumption, and he’ll make you pay for underestimating him.

His mocking of Cam after his TD was a bitch move.  And he did look ridiculous wearing that cap.  Not because it was backwards but because it was to the side.

I have no problem with the wearing of the hat. My problem lies in the hat itself. C'mon Colin, get yourself a fitted cap, you look like an idiot with half your forehead exposed. Also, I loved that he mocked Cam. It was a pretty chippy game. It seemed to me like the Panthers started it, then Boldin started getting Chippy, and so on. If you're going to open yourself up for shots by being such a large personality, expect opponents to take those shots. Hell, even Freebase flapped his arms against the Falcons - but maybe that was just him tweaking out.

His mocking of Cam after his TD was a **CENSORED** move.  And he did look ridiculous wearing that cap.  Not because it was backwards but because it was to the side.

I loved every second of Kap mocking that arrogant **CENSORED** Newton. I think Carolina was on a mission to kill their own quarterback. He wasn't the grinning fool he normally is. On topic, I could care less about what Kap wears. I don't know why anyone else would.

Well frankly the backwards hat thing is silly but the backwards off center thing is a douche bag move. I am 100% in favor of this because it provides me an easy way to know without every bothering to speak to someone if I should waste my time.

I actually never liked Kap until he mocked Cam. Now he is alright in my book.

Not a huge Kaep fan but who really cares how he wears his hat? Is it really any different than some of the shit other players wear? How about huge diamond earrings or gold chains or RGIII wearing "operation patience" T-shirs. Very few of these guys dress professionally and it's okay because being an NFL player isn't a wallstreet professional, it's a sports professional and there is a big difference.

So he should turn his hat around to act like a professional?  A professional what?  He looks like most all the other professional athletes.

Most of us are talking about it because we chose to. You perhaps are being forced to? Or do you just feel a compulsion to try controlling what other people talk about? The hat thing is very teenagerish. On a grown man, it makes them look immature.

He should act accordingly. He's supposed to lead men, not act like a child.Wearing a hat a certain way is one thing, but he's about as "wannabe ghetto" as they come. He's pretty much the miley cyrus of the qb world.

Act like you've been there.  I get Cam isn't too popular around here and it's going to get much sympathy but disrespecting your opponents, especially in their stadium is bush league.

You know we are young 20 somethings who probably never held a job. Old people don't understand fashion trends just like we won't understand what young people will wear in another 20 years.

Hat - no problem with it.  He isn't TRYING to be a suit, he is who he is.Mocking Cam?  Loved it.  Don't pretend to be Superman if you aren't, and while Cam is good, he ain't that good.
