Odd fact:@DraftCountdown: RT "@ScottHanson In last five years 15 WR's have run *official* sub 4.4 at #NFLCombine. Only 1 (Mike Wallace) has a 1,000 yard NFL season.”
See: Oakland Raiders
That's cause the Raiders drafted 14 of them

lol I almost included them. But weren't their busts longer than 5 years ago?
See T.Y. Hilton?
See Pierre Garcon?

Oh, Calvin Johnson is too old for that statistic.....Julio Jones and his 4.39 don't count? How many receivers total from the last 5 drafts have posted 1000 yard receiving seasons?
See Pierre Garcon?
Way too old for this very selective statistic.

True....unfortunately a variety of factors (dismissal of Matt Millen and the emergence of a guy named Calvin Johnson), led them to not pick a rounf 1 WR after 2007. Their reputation endures though...anytime I think of an organization reaching for a WR, the Lions come to mind. ;D
Austin Counts as one of those 15. Bet he gets that 1000 pretty quick.

Please don't remind me of that draft...all I was thinking that year was, "There's no way the Lions take ANOTHER wide reciever in the 1st....right? I mean, with his job basically on the line, there's NO way Matt Millen will be able to convince the Lions front office to take another WR...right? RIGHT?!?!?!?!?! Oh motherfffffff........"

Official times is the key here, Julio ran an official 4.42 not 4.39. Official times are usually higher than unofficial so this is actually an even more narrow set of data.
We don't need a fast wr to get a 1000 yards ...we need him to play in the slot and give the defense headaches over the middle if they double Vjax.
Martavis Bryant is an interesting guy. Sammy Watkins stole all the thunder and headlines in Clemson, but Bryant is a very good deep threat and red zone target. He is over 6'4" and had a 39" vertical leap. That puts his high point at nearly 12ft. That's better than Mike Evans or Kelvin Benjamin. Then he goes and runs a 4.34 and a 4.35 which was adjusted up to a 4.42.....which is still outstanding for a 6'4" 211lbs man. He also did 17 bench reps, so he isn't a weak little twig either. Bryant is a bit inconsistent and raw....but he is an outstanding deep threat with his speed and length, and a great red zone target as well. Currently projected as a 3rd round prospect by most sites, he could be a real steal in the 3rd round. He might not be the best overall WR available in the 3rd round, but he is a good reciever, and with that combination of strength, height, speed, and leaping ability....he'd be a hard guy to pass up....If we can even figure out a way to recoup our 3rd round pick!
