Wilson played the role of game manager. No turn overs, and made 3rd downs. But there were no game changing splash plays from Wilson. It was the defense that won the game and deserving of the MVP.

Exactly.  The Seahawks held the best offense of ALL TIME to 8 points. The game MVP had to come from that side of the ball.  No doubt.

Seattle could have taken a knee every snap and still won comfortably.

Seattle won the TOP battle, had ZERO turnovers, and punted exactly ONCE. Keeping the ball out of a HOF QBs hands is a very key element in beating him.     Kinda knew someone on D would get the MVP, but it was really the WHOLE D, not just one guy, who deserved it...     And, supposing Wilson or the offense had turned the ball over several times, giving Manning more opportunities...

It was a great TEAM effort. Which why it was not obvious who the MVP should go to. The Hawks are going to be very hard to beat until they have to resign some all pro players who are on the cheap right now. Wilson made 500K this year. They were able to sign other guys like Mike Bennett and Avril because of that and those guys had big games. When they have to pay Wilson $20 Million/year they'll have to pull a Ravens and release a bunch of guys. If I'm not mistaken all 3 of the 4 starters of that secondary are on the cheap right now with a rookie contract still? I see they just gave Chancellor $8 mill/year. Thomas will earn more than that in my opinion and Sherman will be in the $12million/year range, maybe more with the type of deal that we signed Revis too. Throw in an extension for Wilson after next year at $15-$20 million and that SeaHawks team is going to have to make some very tough decisions. They've done a great job of drafting very good players who produce on the rookie contract and thus have essentially given themselves what I estimate at a $30 million dollar cushion on the salary cap. I mean Earl Thomas is a 3 time pro bowler who's making about a million dollars this year. Crazy.

Wilson's 1st TD came when the score was already 29-0. It was hardly a deciding factor. The right guy won the MVP. Smiths pick 6 helped them go up 15-0 and essentially took the fight out of Denver.

It seemed like they would have won that game regardless of who was the QB.

Willson played well, but he was in now way the MVP of that game. Im sure if they could give it to then entire Hawks secondary they would have. I started thinking about it in the 3rd quarter, only offensive player I would have even considered was Harvin. It was always between Chancellor and the LB for me.

Tebow could have won that game.

No, they got it wrong as usual. Avril should have been MVP, he caused both INTs. Smith was just in the right place at the right time for his INT and fumble recovery.

QBR, not passer rating, suggests that he did have a significant amount to do with that win; 88.1. Now if you want to argue that he did little to get his team to the superbowl, that would be correct as he posted QBR's of 25.9 and 38.9 in the first two playoff games which is far below the average of 50.0

Wilson being disrespected is far from being the truth. It was a great team performance but Wilson and the offense really didn't do anything special.

Wilson had a very good game, he converted 3rd downs and kept plays alive but he wasn't Seattle's most valuable player. I personally would have given my vote to Harvin because it seemed like every time Denver needed to try to regain momentum he made a big play to keep it going in Seattle's favor. Having said that, it really needed to be a defensive guy. Could have gone to a few different guys.

Agreed, Avril should have been MVP.  It's sad to look back and see the Bucs could have probably signed Avril AND Bennett for the same amount they gave Goldson in the off-season.
