If he's 248lbs, forget what I said (and you've given me hope)...but I have been using www.walterfootball.com (for some strange reason), and they have him listed at 235lbs.Here's a link, while Clowney was listed as a DE/OLB prospect, Barr was strictly listed as an OLB prospect. It is a little early to know if the info has been updated, I suspect the Senior Bowl will clear that up...or at least by the combine... http://walterfootball.com/draft2014OLB3-4.php
Kiper lists him as 244 and has him ranked as his #2 overall prospect. I have read a couple different summaries on Barr saying that he is a great fit for a 3-4 or if he can add some muscle he could be an edge rusher in a 4-3 without much issue. I believe the latter is possible. From his last game, he will have had 3 months until the combine and about 5 months until a possible pro day. In 5 months I think he could add 10 lbs of muscle. If he showed up at a pro day/pre draft workout weighing 255...that would go a long ways to making him an even more attractive option to all teams in the NFL.I just checked another article and the UCLA official roster. They list him as 6'4 248 on the official roster. Also, the article talks about Barr being a converted from a fullback and he was 6'4 235 at that time when Jim Mora took over and made him a LB. So he's had 2 full years to work out...so the 248 sounds more accurate.
From cbs draft scout:Anthony BarrWeaknesses: Relies on his size and athleticism to make virtually all of his plays. Extremely raw, especially in his use of hands. Is too easily locked up by offensive tackles, tight ends and even fullbacks because he doesn't keep his hands actively ripping away at blockers' attempts to grasp onto his jersey. Loses track of the football, at times, and must do a better job of pursuing downfield when he does find it. Relies too much on his natural explosiveness as a hitter, rather than wrapping his arms around the ballcarrier securely. Also, has zero bull rush. I don' t want to draft a project at no.7. I know he has the potential to turn into a JPP type player, I just don't think we are in the position to draft a project player for our DL like the Giants were when they drafted JPP. We need production now.Maybe he will get better at using his hands. Maybe he will get better at shedding blockers. Maybe he will gain weight and develop a bull rush. Maybe his awareness will develop (very rare that this happens). Maybe he will be a fit for a 4-3 defense one day if he can gain weight without losing his explosiveness. Then again, maybe not. Maybe we would be completely wasting the no.7 overall pick.

The Tampa2 worries me. Espesciay since the pass rush of the front 4 is so limited and broken, and has been forever. Gotta have a stout plan for that...no pass rush = 6 win season.
Barr is going to be a great player . If he's there you have to seriously consider him . Lovie will have done his homework and will know if he can fit in his system. Skinny guys can play RE in single gap tampa 2 . Look at Boid's picture of Simeon Rice . Rice was really no bigger than Barr.

Lovie managed it Chicago - had a pretty good win percentage - I think he went 10-6 in his final season. I absolutely agree with your concern regarding the Tampa-2 - it's how Peyton caim from behind to score 21 or 28 points and beat us the year after the Super Bowl. Remeber Sapp was solid but gassed in the 3rd. Indy simply wore his phat-fanny out for 3 quarters. But once the front four was tapped out...Peyton never lifted his foot off the accelerator.Tampa-2 hasn't been the same since. It probably has to do with talent depth on the bench - matched to the talent in the defensive backfield - ANY error those two places and this division will eat yo alive. I think the Tampa-2 fell victim to it's own success - I believe it's responsible for taking away seam routes utilizing average-speed DB's. Once offenses shifted away from the seam route - guys like Manning simply ran the defensive line for 3 quarters which created zero to NO pass rush later in the game.Became especially ugly if you only had a Tony Dungy "don't try to win it, just don't make any mistakes" offense - no way to score more touchdowns once you couldn't stop the other team from scoring...It will be interesting to see what changes Lovie adapts - as Dungy finally learned when he went to Indy - offense HAS to factor into winning.

Rice may have been skinny coming out of college but not when the Bucs had him. He was 270 pounds. So, Barr only needs to add 30 pounds of lean muscle.
I am warming up to the idea of acquiring the Clown man. It will be interesting to see how it pans out in May. Of those 6 teams ahead of us, 3 or 4 are good bets to snag a QB. And maybe one of the remaining teams falls in love with Mathews. If he makes it to say 5 or 6, we gotta make a move. Our yet to be hired GM, needs to be working the phones.
I will cry if we left Matthews and Watkins on the board at 7.
If we leave Watkins on the board, I swear to God I will punt a newborn baby into the sun.
lmao....that's some funny shlt right there

He was always skinny . if you believe he was 270 I have a bridge to sell you. same body type.
I highly doubt Simeon Rice played at 270 here.
Simeon Rice was cut - he carried minimal body fat. I'll bet that if you dropped him in a pool of water - he probably wouldn't float if he was in an lifevest!Simeon's off-season workout regimine would kill the average player - it was like Jerry Rice running the sand hill - only Simeon did it in the desert. He is also nearly 6' 6" - his NFL bio still lists him as 268lbs - in his prime he probably played around 255 or 260. He was rare.He had the one thing you can't teach - speed - just like Clowney. That's why I'm focused on the young man from South Carolina - if Clowney is motivated to play football - he can be taught things like a bull rush. If Barr is heavier than 235lbs - same thing applies - he simply lacks good coaching.

Well and we appear to be in e market for LDE not RDE and Barr ain't gonna be that guy.
