At the end of the year when all the teams fired their head coaches, most people said the Lions job was the most attractive.Seems the Lions are getting spurned by the big candidates they are targetting. The latest was Ken Whisenhunt. In fact, the Lions owner sent a private jet to San Diego. But it was nothing as Whisenhunt didnt get on the plane and instead jumped for the Titans job.So now the Lions may be looking at Caldwell or Munchak if they want head coaching experience, or else dig into the pile of coordinators. But its got to be a bit alarming for Lions fans if all these candidates are taking a pass on what many thought was the most attractive job considering many pieces (including QB) is already in place. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/report-ken-whisenhunt-takes-tennessee-titans-job-spurns-233536877--nfl.html

Salary cap hell. They're either going to have to give Suh a $100M contract which they cant afford or let him walk as a FA. Stafford contract is an anchor because he's not good and they're paying him like an MVP.

http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/2014/01/detroit_lions_awards_matthew_s.html Detroit invested heavily in its quarterback last offseason, signing him to a three-year extension that guaranteed him more than $40 million. Stafford rewarded the club by having his worst season since he was a rookie. He completed only 58.5 percent of his passes, 30th in the NFL, and threw 19 interceptions, which were sixth most. And what's particularly damning is Stafford was at his worst when the Lions needed him most. They started the season 6-3, while Chicago and Green Bay were playing without their quarterbacks, and the playoffs seemed to be a lock. But then Stafford threw 12 interceptions over the final seven games, and had 14 turnovers overall. That was more than any other player in the entire league over that span.He threw a pick-six that completed a fourth-quarter collapse against woeful Tampa Bay. He threw a pick that ended a comeback attempt against the New York Giants -- and ousted the Lions from the playoff chase.Stafford did all that despite having one of the NFL's best offensive lines in front of him, one of the best 1-2 tailback combinations behind him and one of the best receivers in the history of the game split out wide. The Lions weren't perfect. But the thing is, no team ever is. Stafford was surrounded by enough weaponry to rival nearly every offense in professional football, yet fell flat on his face.

It's Detroit. Matthew Stafford sucks. He is overrated because of his arm talent, and megatron, abd the numbers mega helps him put up. But if you watch him play you wonder what the he'll he is thinking sometimes. The defense is fine. But they are just not on the level of the packers and bears as an organization. Even if they string together a few winds and make the playoffs, they will be on the outside looking in the very next year.

Stafford sucks, suh is a pain in the ass, their cap is maxed, the competition within the division is tough, and cj is getting older/slower.In my mind, I see them going back to their normal ways for the next few years, unless they sign a very good hc.It's almost the same issue with the ravens, only that they have a better all around defense.

Their window is rapidly closing. You may get one good season out of them and then salary cap hell and everyone gets fired. The experienced coaches are too smart for that situation. The Bucs job was by far the best one. Excellent cap situation, a relatively young team with a loaded roster.  You can win quickly with the Bucs. If you find a quarterback (or mold Glennon into a competent one) you can win for quite some time with Tampa Bay.
