We have this problem in Tampa, that both our safeties are in the box strong safety types. I think Barron can be more of an all around guy, but Goldson is definitely a strong safety playing out of position at free safety. Plus his salary is out of control and when you put it all together, you come to the conclusion that we will almost certainly need a new FS in 2015. Because of this, I was looking at late round and UDFA type safeties to see if there are any promising guys that could be brought along this year to possibly start at FS in 2015. I didn't expect to find much, but then I started watching Jemea Thomas out of Georgia Tech. This kid is projected to be a 7th round pick and for the life of me I cannot figure out why. He played nickel CB and FS in college and showed great coverage skills. Some draft reports even say he should be a CB. If you watch him play though, it doesn't take long to see he is a safety. This kid can tackle and he loves to hit people. He is 5'10" 195lbs and does everything well. I'm not sure I believe he will really make it to the 7th round, but I really hope the Bucs are looking at this guy in the 5th round or later. The kid reminds me of Earl Thomas. He is definitely a country boy and doesn't seem like the sharpest tool in the shed, sop maybe that is why his stock is so low....but he clearly gets football.
