I don't man. I guess it depends on how the Bucs have him graded....but I would hate to take another flier on a back up QB with our 2nd round pick, instead of taking a stud We took a flier on Glennon with our 3rd last year and know we are talking about what QB we should take this year. I think we need to concentrate on improving our roster. If there is a guy that we think is a legit starter, then don't eff around...take em in 1st round. If not, then don't make a habit of wasting top 100 picks on 2nd rate QBs.
agree with the first paragraph. as for the 2nd, there are a few, not all to many, but a few taht are talking about what QB we should take NEXT draft. i do agree that we should either take a 1st rounder or nothing at all.
I think he was clearly the best QB at the Shrine game, and I do like him enough to rank him above guys like Carr and McCarron....but that speaks more to my dislike of them than my like of Garoppolo. I'd take a shot on him in the 3rd if he's there, but I think this idea of him being a 1st or 2nd round pick would be a major reach.
Doesn't matter where you think he should go. It is all about value in the QB market. If he has an impressive Senior Bowl, Combine and Pro-Day. He will be taken by a team at the top of the 2nd round. Bank on it.

So, by the logic, Carr, who is considered a first rounder by more than a few media outlets, would be "worth it".....because he's graded as a 1st rounder.....but Garoppolo wouldn't be because he's not a first round talent and would be no better than a back up. Ridiculous. 4 QBs playing in the Championship games this weekend. Only one (Manning) was taken in the first round. Only two started their rookie year (Manning and Wilson). QBs are major risks, period. If you have a guy with upside, who you know can make the throws at an NFL, regardless of his competition, and you can get him the second round.....who cares if he wasn't graded a "first round talent"?
It doesn't matter where we have them rated at all, if a team targets their guy they can care less where the media has them going they are going to get that guy, at the end of all these work outs and combine I can see Jimmy G. going top 2 rounds easily.

Teams are always willing to fight the last war. Wilson makes it ok to take short QBs. Romo and Flacco make it ok to take lower division players. If his Senior bowl goes well given how desperate QB teams are I can see him going late R1 as a team trade back up. He has NFL mechanics on him and and NFL physical traits. Think about it this way too the top 4 guys and rank him in terms of arm...behind Bortles. Over athleticism, behind Bortles, maybe. He has the height weight ratio on Manziel and Teddy don't have. He has better mechanics than all 4 of the top picks. Teams will talk themselves into this pick.

i dont care what kiper or mcshay think. but if the Bucs view a guy as a franchise QB, its odd to me that they would also have him graded as a round 2 or 3 talent.i also dont believe you can develop 2 young QBs
Look at it this way Hayseed. Say Glennon and Kaepernick are in the same draft. Say they both grade out identically as passers and that grade is that of a borderline starter/solid back up. However, while Glennon is a statue, Kaepernick has amazing athletic abilities. So neither guy is worth taking in the 1st because the risk/reward doesn't add up....but it might make sense to take a flyer on Kap at some point in the 2nd or 3rd round because he has that X factor that makes his odds of success higher and therefore the risk/reward point is different than Glennon's, who really isn't worth the risk until the 4th because you are most likely drafting your back up.Now with Garoppolo, he has more mobility than Glennon but it isn't enough to be a big factor when grading him out. So it comes down strictly to his ability as a passer. So, does he look like a starter to you or not? That is the only question. If he does, you take em in the first. If he doesn't, don't waste a top 100 pick on him. There is no X factor that makes the risk/reward make sense in the top 100.
Evaluate the guy all by himself. Watching his games , listening to interviews, watching him play quarterback...He'll go in the second round first 10 or so picks for certain, if not a little earlier, Young man has everything except "level of competition". Fits Tedford to a tee.I really hope the Bucs don't burn the first on a qb this year, just isn't worth it.

We don't need to use a draft pick on a "Starter". We have Glennon, who has proven he can start in this league, and play halfway decent. We only draft a QB if we think he can become our "Franchise QB", something many of us doubt about Glennon. Like many have said, this franchise has seen enough mediocre QB's. If the organization believes their guy is out there that can lead this team for years to come, do what you have to do to go get him.
I'm interested to see where this thread goes in opinions by May... Heck even by March. I like the idea of taking him in the 2nd.

I think him and Carr at QB have the most to gain at the Senior Bowl.

Agreed. Guys like me that think they are 4th round prospects could be swayed. The Senior Bowl is big for both of them. Tajh Boyd too.
Interviews are going to be very important for all of these guys. If Garoppolo plays well next week, and impresses on the chalkboard I think he could be in the 1st round. It only takes 1 team to fall in love with him, and what if that team is the Bucs? What if Tedford jumps on the table and screams for Garoppolo? If he's your guy, and you think he may not last until the 2nd, you have to take him when you can get him.
I'd rather have Garoppolo than Bortles
