We haven't won a playoff game since the SB and there have only been two appearances since.
The Bucs haven't even been an NFL team the last 5 years. Hard to win a playoff game when you are coming in last place in your division every year.
Welcome back Buc Todd. What do you think of the Lovie hire?
Really, the truth in the matter of all this is that no one knows for sure what has transpired, who the Glazer Goons have chatted with, reached out to, blah blah blah. Were any of you up the Glazer hind-ends while they were on the phones? Me either. It is all speculation on the parts of all the media geeks and the fans.Unless you were there, you don't know, thus, the way I see it, none of us knows. It drives readers to websites, social media, and of course, right here on message boards.Lastly, was it time for Chucky to go? For both he and the Bucs, the answer is yes. Was it time for a change in Pittsburgh from Cowher? For both he and the Steelers, yes. And, believe it or not, at some point, it will be time for Bellicheat to depart from New England.I know it isn't as much fun, but hate on the coach all you want, but no need to hate on the person. All of us likely have people that hate us too.
Of course Gruden would have been the best choice for a head coach, but Lovie is a good consolation choice. I'd have preferred Marinelli over Frazier. I think it's funny that hypocrites like Beatles were saying they didn't want a retread head coach who had been fired by another team in the past, but now are saying this is the greatest thing ever. Chip Kelly would have been better than Lovie. It's a shame the Bucs had that loser Freeman as their QB when they were trying to get Kelly. But I'm ok with Lovie. Now if they draft Manziel or bring in Tebow, I will buy season tickets.
You know the funniest thing here now is? the very same people defending Glennon are the same ones that defended Freeman for years.
No, what truly IS hypocritical is someone that does not want a "Retread HC that has been fired elsewhere", nor do they want a HC without any experience. Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmm :-X

Haha. That is funny. But not surprising. For those people, the Bucs could hire a sign a trained monkey as their QB, head coach or GM and they would still think it was great.I don't mind Glennon. But I'd prefer Manziel. Or Bortles or Tebow. Freeman? He sucks. Always did.
The premise is that Gruden would've been the better choice over Lovie, by far. What was Gruden's W-L record with the Bucs and what was Lovie's with the Bears? Aren't they close but Lovie has a better win percentage? Gruden arrived to take over a Tampa team that was a contender and that had the best D in the league. What did Lovie inherit? I think the Bears were mediocre? Don't recall though? In any event, to the extent Lovie had comparable results, the fact that so many Buc fans almost automatically except the premise that Gruden would be the hands down better choice is a great example of how much godwill Gruden has due to his first year with the Bucs, so much so that the reality that followed is virtually suspended.
That may be true, but the flip side of the argument is also true. Bucs went 9-8 in Dungy's last year. They were 6th in total d and 8th in scoring d. They didn't resemble the best d in the league in a 31-9 loss at Philly. Is Lovie the best choice now? Clearly. But what transpired in our three division-winning seasons is definitely up for interpretation.

Certainly there are considerations on both sides, but I looked back after my post and Lovie took over Chicago after Juron, who save one good year had 3 or 4 losing seasons. The Bucs shouldve gone to the Super Bowl in 99 and had the entire defense in place (2-4 HOF candidates) when Gruden got here. There really is no comparison as to who took over a better team, it was clearly Gruden. In fact, Lovie's time in Chicago was more like Dungy's time here, which raises the question if the current Bucs team is more like 2001-2002 or 1995, I guess?Either way, on balance, I think Lovie has the beter W-L record taking over a lesser team (although I think Urlacher was there, so that is definitely helpful). Gruden has the Super Bowl, but a lesser W-L record with a more established and talented team. argubaly. With those facts I dont think it should be as many fans seem to see it, which is that Gruden is HANDS DOWN the best candidate between the two, but that is the perception because of the Super Bowl, which was my point.
Completely different situations. Look what Gruden did in Oakland where he took over a team coming off back to back losing records. And I am not someone saying that Gruden is hands down the best candidate bewteen the two or even should have been considered for the job.
