...over before it began. Trask will be gone via a trade before the draft IMO.

How can you interpret the publicly displayed Mayfield-Coen hug fest as anything other than that Mayfield already has a deal in place with the Bucs?  No agent would allow his client to pal around at team headquarters if they were negotiating with multiple teams.

Woolford also a Coen guy, and the Bucs will probably draft a QB at some point. Trask has no reason to hang around here. He should request a trade, and I'm sure the Bucs will oblige.  The Bucs can't let Carolina, or another division team get him because that can come back to bite you, so they hang onto him rather than just cut him loose, but I think they can get something for him.

How much is he worth?  I'd say he's worth a 6th round pick.  Teams need backup QBs.  Look at the sorry state of backup QBs in the NFL.  Wouldn't you rather have Trask over say Tim Boyle or CJ Walker?  I would think so. Before or after the draft?  I think before because it's a done deal that would be 3rd string at best.  Might as well get that draft pick to use this year.

So, goodbye and good luck to Kyle Trask. He didn't suck, but its just the way it worked out or didn't work out for him in this case.  He'll get a chance somewhere someday but not in Tampa Bay.

I like the moniker change… and the thread…just not sure it’s going to generate 10 pages of replies unless you add Ballerz name as the one who ended the era…

But I’m not sure you can get a 6th rounder…someone needs to want to trade one for Kyle? Maybe somewhere like Las Vegas?

With Coen's & Wolford's background, Trask may be a couple of injuries away...but he's still in a good spot (if he doesn't get too expensive).

Were better off keeping him than trading him.

Why would the Bucs trade an unknown QB with a $1.8M cap number for a 6th round pick?

Depends, what’s the trade?

and with a really small cap space, small contracts add up.

like I’ve said, he has some value, one way or another.

$1.8 mil is a great deal for a #2 QB, but not for a #3 QB who's gone after the year.  The Bucs will likely be looking to draft a QB somewhere on Day 2 or Day 3.  I just don't see Trask fitting into the Bucs plans anymore.   If the Bucs are planning to sign Woodford and draft a QB, that leaves Trask as the odd man out.  Trask has more value to another team who needs a backup.  They may see Trask as someone who fits their style and could potentially see some playing time.  He's only got a year left on his contract, so that limits his trade value.  But if he's odd man out then you don't want to cut him and have him come back to the NFC South.  Licht would love to have another draft pick, even a 6th rounder, who can be part of the youth movement.

The trade might even com on draft day.  Once the Bucs choose a QB that makes Trask expendable and another team who didn't choose a QB in the draft may be looking for some depth at that position.  So a Day 3 trade is very possible.

Well depends on the draft. Personally, the Bucs should focus on edge, offensive line, secondary in the first several rounds

if they take a QB, then yeah I could see them unloading Trask, but I agree with his support group that best to just keep him on the roster this year

in 2025, let him walk and draft a guy if the assumption is baker shits the bed. If baker performs well again this year, consider resigning Trask as back-up

i dont dislike Trask. I hated the pick back in 2021 in our repeat run but he’s a likable guy. Easy to root for as the underdog guy. Why some may misconstrue my post as hate it is the ludicrous notion he can hold bakers jock strap and some wanting him starting to even this day over baker. You could not have been proven more wrong and stay with that line of thinking. It’s embarrassing.

his career highlight is an incomplete pass that was a perfect spiral

No shit.

You talk about him more than the one (maybe two) actual Trask fans on here do.

Why would another team give up a draft pick for Trask? Productive NFL players get traded for 7th round picks. What would someone trade for Trask who has had an unproductive career?

a team may give up a 7th for him but you are in the ball park, his trade value isn’t much.

i mean shit if Chris Godwin’s trade value is a 3rd just what could you expect of Trasks

Because he's better than the alternative backup QBs who will cost more.  I'd rather have Trask than some of the other retread backup QBs on the FA market such as Mariota or Brissett who are going to cost you at least $5 mil, probably more with the upcoming cap increase.  The Bucs may not need Trask, but other teams will have a need for him.  I think 6th round is fair because he's a QB.  We'll see.
