In what universe does Daniel’s fall to #26?
Think someone takes a chance on Pennix - just less sure of him.
While I agree with the idea of drafting a QB, I don’t think we go that way at #26 (Edge/CB/JPJ), and also don’t think a decent one will fall to us in 2nd round.
It’s a deep draft at WR - which gives better value than a developmental QB in the 2nd round. Just don’t see the Bucs spending that kind of draft capital on QB till later.
and at that point you would have hoped Jason Licht learned from the Trask mistake
despite the baker haters highest hopes, the last thing the Bucs will do is reward baker with a 3,4 year deal and then say “yeah let’s fuck with his confidence and draft some completion in year 1”
get real
Yeah, maybe, but if so, I just don’t see how we draft a QB with horsepower that can become anything more than a back-up.
Too many needs in other areas to be taking a chance on late round developmental QB project. While there are a lot of QB options in this draft, not sure how many have starting quality after the top 3…
Historically, not many.
As a practical matter, NFL team rarely have the luxury of just taking the BPA.

This always means you cant respond so . . .
It actually always means you’re too much of an ignorant doofus to respond to, hence the dismissive, mocking post.

Thats not true, but what ever give you confidence
Trask was a wasted pick. He doesnt have an NFL arm. Even when Mayfield was hurt, and could barely lift his arm- The Coach didnt let Trask in the Game. Two days ago, Licht said Trask had no trade value. Woolford will move to 2nd string. Trask will stay for the final year of his rookie contract- then he’ll be selling insurance. He will become the 27 Qb drafted by the Bucs, who wont get a second contract.

I like trask the person but I wouldn’t have liked any QB with that draft selection.
we brought the band back together for a repeat run. You don’t do that, go all in, and then not keep the pedal to the metal with the draft. I think Licht got way too cocky with that draft as if this team didn’t have any depth needs. 2 of our top 4 picks were a back up QB and a kick returner. Atrocious.
Fast forward to this year, it’s year 4 of trask and with impending new contract for Baker or as they shown last year, bringing in a vet to compete; Trask will just be remembered for not seeing the field. I think he remains our #2 this year.
I don’t think there’d be much interest for Trask to potentially start from other teams in 2025 so I’m afraid his ceiling will be latching on somewhere with a questionable starter to be their #2 with a chance to start given injury or poor play. The guy hasn’t put anything on tape - which is his own fault for either not dominating in practice like a Brock purdy showed buried on depth chart or just being average talent wise so domination was not an option.
in terms of second contract, the Bucs have shown they like consistency with Griffith having a long career with us as #3,#4 guy. I could see Bucs given Trask a 1 year deal to return as back-up but I think it’s just as likely they let him walk and get new blood

“Have teams called you about Kyle Trask? Have you gotten calls?” Joe asked Licht.
“Not at this point. No,” Licht replied. “But it wouldn’t be the time, I don’t think.”
Teams wouldn't trade for a backup QB until the draft is over. That's what Licht means. But it's telling that Licht didn't answer "We aren't really interested in trading Kyle". I do think Trask's days are numbered, but that's based on things that haven't happened yet. The Bucs haven't signed Mayfield yet. They haven't drafted a developmental QB yet. They haven't resigned Woolford yet. Until those all happen there's no reason to trade Trask.
Why trade trask? Realistically speaking what’s his trade value?
I mean trey lance who the 49ers gave up a lot for and was a top pick was traded for a 4th.
Trade value: Trask and a 7th to move up to the 6th round? Is it that low?
or maybe it’s a 7th own his own?
I agree, if there isn’t any valuable trade interest, and his contract is low, keep him.Why trade trask? Realistically speaking what’s his trade value?

They can only keep three QBs. Here's how I think it's very likely to go. 1) They resign Mayfield to start. 2) They resign Wolford who has a relationship with Coen from the Rams to be the veteran backup. 3) They draft a QB probably on Day 2 to develop for the long term. None of that has happened yet, but it's all very likely to happen IMO. If these three things happen, what do you do with Trask who only has a year left on his deal?I agree, if there isn’t any valuable trade interest, and his contract is low, keep him.Why trade trask? You can't keep him as a 4th QB. You don't want to just cut him because you don't want him to be picked up by a division foe. You have to find a way to trade him even for the last pick of the draft if you have to, or a future pick. Doesn't matter. You can't let him be a free agent. IMO they'll trade him possibly during or right after the draft once they do actually draft the rookie. Why wait and see how it plays out in training camp? You know what Wolford has to offer. A rookie QB, if drafted on Day 2, is a lock to make the team. That leaves no room for Trask. Trask's value will be greater if he has a chance to work out with a team in the Summer so he can be up to speed.
Of course the Bucs might not sign Wolford. They might not draft a QB. They might not even sign Mayfield. We don't know yet. But we can see where things are going for Trask. He'll probably have a long career as a backup in the NFL, but IMO his time is done with the Bucs. We'll see. I could be wrong.
I rather have trask than wolford as #2
if baker goes down to injury, why wouldn’t we want trask as #2?
we know 1000% wolford isn’t the answer. Probably 90% sure Trask isn’t but you can see quite a different in those %s
keep Trask as #2
I probably keep Trask too, but what is Coen going to want to do? Coen has to get his offense installed. Does he want to spend time evaluating a QB battle for the #2 spot? Does he want to spend time teaching it to a QB who may never see the field and will be gone after the year is up? Wolford is going to have a better chance to learn the offense quickly and therefore help get things moving in the Summer OTAs and training camp.I rather have trask than wolford as #2

The only thing is perhaps his experience in Coen’s (McVay’s) system?I rather have trask than wolford as #2

Isn't Trask under contract through this year?
Spotrac says his contract is for about $1.4 mil and his dead cap hit is $346K. So affordable to keep, but easy to cut or trade as well.Isn't Trask under contract through this year?
