Isn't Trask under contract through this year?

Spotrac says his contract is for about $1.4 mil and his dead cap hit is $346K.  So affordable to keep, but easy to cut or trade as well.

He has no trade value, a small contract and he’s 2nd QB. He’s not going anywhere short of him requesting.

That would be my guess

yeah like when Leonard Fournette supposedly requested to be released last year

talk about these guys and their egos.  I love Playoff Lenny but man your ass was cut because Tom retired and you weren't worth the $7M per year.  Don't act like it was your decision and then you finally latch on in like November with the Bills only to play in 2 games

so similarly, and not that i think Trask would do this, but demanding a request like that would all but ensure him out of the NFL.

if he's smart, which i think he is, he sits quietly and collects his paycheck. and the Bucs would be smart to retain him as back-up as currently i dont see a cheaper or better alternative as drafting a QB within the first 3 rounds does not make sense for 2024, particularly if you are about to give Mayfield a new contract or does bringing in another VET to be looking over Mayfields shoulder.
