While I am not 100% ready to give up on Schiano...if he wants out...fine. If the PSU job opens up and he leaves the Bucs for PSU...we wouldn't have to pay the last years of his contract.

Just curious...why are you not 100%?  I'm asking nicely.  I am wondering what tangible data you are pointing to that says give him another year.  Playing hard should be a given not some miraculous feat of coaching.  So, I'm curious.  The guy has been a head coach for 13 years and has zero trophies in his case.  What makes anyone think that some magic light will suddenly come on?

Yea you really sound like you're asking nicely  ???

I don't want another college coach. I want a proven NFL HC. Gruden, Cowher and Billick are at the top of my wish list. Someone with that kind of notoriety and experience is what this team needs IMO.

Gruden would never come back but I can see him changing with the offensive times.  The other two are relics and should only be broken out in case of a time warp.

Interesting point. If he approached the Glazers to get out of his contract, they probably would grant his early exit in exchange for terminating the remainder of his contract.     What would you guys think of promoting Wannstedt to HC?

I assumed he meant interim. If not, then I agree, no.

And I would guess the Glazers are thinking along those lines also. IF they decide to make a change

Wanny is a cool cat, man. Never gets flustered about anything. And he has been around the league for many years. What's not too like?

I hear ya, but he was coaching some pretty craptastic teams, if my memory serves me right.

I don't think he "wants out" ...I  just think he sees the writing on the wall. He's done here. His agent is busy starting to put out feelers for a new job and this is what this story leaks from.
