The article says MAY be interested.
I know for a fact he's interested. He turned down Michigan a few years ago because he was waiting for the Penn St job to open up.
His interest is immaterial. Penn State's interest is what matters and I can't see them interested in him. Hard to sell a losing NFL record to your fan base and recruits as why he is a great coach.
My response was to Detrimental saying the article says he "may" be interested. I don't know what Penn St's opinion of Schiano is. I know what his opinion of Penn St is though.

Pillow talk?
Recruiting circle talk
Recruiting circle talk
You should stay out of that kind of talk.
I don't want another college coach. I want a proven NFL HC. Gruden, Cowher and Billick are at the top of my wish list. Someone with that kind of notoriety and experience is what this team needs IMO.
Experience? None of those guys has experience in the current NFL era
The same thing could have been said about Dick Vermeill when he was hired for the HC job in St Loius. At the end of the day it will always come down to blocking and tackling better than the other team. In reality there is not too much new or different in today's game versus when these guys were coaching.
I will help him pack his office at OBP.
Why would Penn State want Schiano?
This sound like Schiano's agent putting this out there. If that is true, then that tells us Schiano thinks he's getting fired and they're trying to line up jobs and keep his name out there.
we should pay penn state to take him
Why would Penn State want Schiano?
well he coached there, has recruited in the same area, has fans in the same general area, and is probably good enough of a coach for most college teams. He wouldn't be a horrible hire for them.

I understand the connection, but at this point, I'd think he'd have to show some success elsewhere before getting a job like Penn State's. Most of the kids he'll be sitting in living rooms with don't know him as a guy who has had any sort of success in football, as they were 10 or younger for that 2006 season. They know him as the guy who has flamed out spectacularly in Tampa. If he goes back to college, he's going to need to go back to a Rutgers-like situation, an AAC job, or a low-level power conference job, and succeed before getting a job like Penn State's.
Failing in the NFL didnt hurt Pete Carrol at USC. 99% of all college HCs are never going to have one of those 32 jobs. The fact he's coached at that level and could help get them there is all that should matter to them. PSU has lost a lot of its luster anyways. Not like it's the Texas job.
We're a stepping stone for college now? Yay.
Funny how we don't think our HC is good enough for a college program that hasn't been a contender since what the 80s?
It's a bucs life?
