This is my first time posting since the change over to the new site. I had trouble logging in and didn't want to register again. Anyways.... It worked today...No need to rehash the debacle of a season we had. I'm moving forward. Here's my take on what I believe could be strong next steps for the Bucs:1.) Hire Greg Roman. He is a lame duck after harbaugh but I think he's a very good coach. Much better than what we have. Better than Tedford would have been. Matches with Lovie philosophically. Believes in running the ball and building an offensive line. Understands the modern QB. Don't judge him on Kaepernick alone, look at Alex Smith's revival two years ago as well.2.) Release the deadweight and look forward. Anthony Collins, gone. Josh McCown, release him. Dashon Goldson, deuces. Michael Johnson, I might give one more chance but my gut tells me to give him the pink slip. Luke stocker? No thanks. Mason Foster? I'd consider resigning him but my feeling is Lovie wants an athletic playmaker at the position, mason is a run stuffing thumper... Basically, there aren't many people I'd resign and there aren't many free agents from last year id keep. 3.) Use Free Agency to retool the offensive line. That is priority number 1 this free agency. Everything else is a bonus. Mike Iupati? Yes. Alex Boone still available too? Even if it's not a starter, get some new bodies in there. The line this year deserves competition at every single position, and hopefully a new coach. 4.) Draft Mariota or Winston, preferably Mariota.5.) Draft Heavily in the trenches, rounds 2-5, both sides of the ball. Who cares if our draft looks sexy on paper at the end, we need to retool in the trenches. We need holes in the running game. We need a rush that consists of more than Gerald McCoy. While we saw some flashes this year, there isn't a player on our Defensive line that you have to game plan for after Gerald. I hope Jacques Smith gets to be that but you never know. We have skill position players that are good enough to do some damage if given the right amount of protection/openings on offense. Look at the difference in Tony Romo this year with that offensive line they've built. 6.) Coaching staff should have a commitment to no one. To me, it was foolish to say "Josh McCown gives us the best chance to win." Really? I have a set of eyes. Do I believe Glennon is the answer? No. Do I think Glennon is better than McCown? Absolutely. TD:int ratio proves it. Our highest point total of the season came with Glennon at QB. Not a coincidence. Glennon is better and gave us a better chance to win. As did starting Bobby Rainey. As did starting Jacques Smith. As did benching Charles "trip over myself" Sims. The commitment to "Lovie's guys" has to stop. He has to stop being so stubborn.7.) Finally, whether you agree with me or not, defensively, stay the course. The game still has room for bend but don't break. I believe we would've beat the saints today, I'm glad we took the foot off the gas but maybe Lovie saw enough? Rather have the first pick than a win against the taints. Well, those are my postseason thoughts. Looking forward to reading all of yours. I shouldn't, but I believe in Lovie. I think he gets us back on track. Or I hope.Go Bucs.
