I know right off the bat, this isn't going to be the popular opinion...however i think this may be the direction the Bucs are headed.It's been known by almost everyone on the outside looking in, the majority of our problems last year were because of horrible coaching, scheme and gameday management. With the addition of the new defensive coaching staff I feel like maybe defense isnt going to be the number 1 priority at #9. We know we have some pretty solid pieces in place. Banks and Verner didn't forget how to play corner. There is talent at our CB position. William Gholston showed amazing improvement last year and earned his starting role. The front office believes they have a potential RE in Jacq Smith. With better coaching and scheme, we may get to see that come to fruition this year. We have McCoy, Spence and McDonald at DT all are solid. We also have Kourtnei Brown...who could be made into an edge rusher with proper coaching. When you flip your attention to the offensive side of the ball, particularly at WR we have a glaring need thats masked by an old vet going into his last year. Outside of Evans and Jackson...and maybe Humphries, we really have nobody. We are one injury away from having Evans, Dye and Humphries being our starters... (no i haven't forgot about Murphy, i just dont think hes gonna be that much of a factor.) With that said I believe there are 3 elite WRS who are undervalued because of the influx of questionable DEs who really are all the same player that are filling up the draft boards. Those 3 WRs are Corey Coleman, Josh Doctson and Sterling Shepard. Either one of those 3 would have an immediate impact on our offense and would alleviate the pressure placed on Mike Evans if Jackson goes down. Evans cannot handle the #1 role currently without help. He's shown that he can be special, but he still has not mastered his craft.This draft is deep on defensive talent and we can fill the pieces we need to in rounds 2-6 and have a very very competitive defense, with an electric, high powered offense.
