I don't know about you guys but I'm done with high-priced free agents. It was exciting the last couple of years but we have all seen first hand how little of a difference it makes. I hope Licht focuses on "bargain bin" type players. After all, shopping in the "bargain bin" was quite rewarding in 2013....Danny Woodhead (2 years, 3.5million)Michael Bennett (1 year, $5 million)Terrance Knighton (2 years, $4.5 million)Julian Edelman (1 year, $765,000)Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (1 year, $5 million)Aqib Talib (1 year, $5 million)James Anderson (1 year, $1.25 million)Brent Grimes (1 year, $5.58M)Rashad Jennings (1 year, $630,000)Karlos Dansby (1 year, $2.25 million)Daryl Smith (1 year, $1.125 million)
Then everyone will say the Glazers are cheap and won't pay for top talent.
Lol@MikeBennett's contract.
Those Glazer-ninjas have hired SunnyD to control Red Board expectations...diabolical!
Along the lines of "bargain bin" shopping...If we're going to sign a veteran QB we should sign Shaun Hill. 13-13 record. 61.9% completion41 Touchdowns23 INTs6.7 YPA
Beat the Bucs didn't he?
Beat the Bucs didn't he?
Yup...
I don't know if the "Bargain-bin" shopping will work this year. Last year the cap stayed flat and forced teams to not overpay which in turn led to those contracts. This year with the cap close to $133 million, a lot of these free-agents will get paid.
It's relative. The cost of acquiring high-priced free agents will increase as well so the difference in cost should remain similar.
I always thought you got what you paid for?
Agree....this year's bargains will get paid more than last years bargains. Also, some of those bargains from last year who took "prove-it" contracts (Bennett, Grimes, Edelman,....) will cash-in this year. I guess this years list of relative bargains will be a lot different.
If the Bucs are going to overpay might as well do it with young blue chip talent and youn 2nd/3rd tier talent.
